Yule

Once more we are at the time of winter solstice. Nights are longest and coldest. And my soul howls like a wolf, alone, who spies full the night’s pale rounded eye. I long for the warmth of Family, gathered bout the cheerfully stoked hearth even as I stare past cold steel bars at the grey, bleak scene of a Prison yard beyond.

A tear trickles down my cheek as memories eye recalls the scene of Yule long ago, when children frolicked and elders rejoiced over cups of mead, and meats succulent, roasting!

My heart thus is warmed, for now I recall the promise of the Goddess, that with every winter’s dying, so too, is there a spring’s warm dawning!

Cultivate Stillness in Reflection

In the business and busyness of life, it is not idle must be sought.

Cultivate stillness in all passions, as the watcher, never judging or reacting. Clear like moon, like lake and still, he watches over us. Observe detached. Yet act. For greater truths are in more common places found. At the wharves and in the commons are greater matters chose.

Wholeness, I know, is facing squarely my situation. Plan that direction to the higher goals, what for the earth and for your folk be god. Further the way where you can. Wholeness is forged from deciding and acting.

“Wholeness is creative and by intention lives, birthed in the Freedom to act, to choose. The Gods leave me free that I may be co-creator. Freedom is momentary. It arises in the impeccable act and releasing the act from care. Send out my choice, create, detach it from my self. Self goes on: world is eternal.”

- from Paradigms of Seidr.

Paradigms of Seidr is an ancient tradition of meditation that originated in Scandinavia. Its intended to direct thought with certain core thoughts. Which like DNA patterns all that follow it.

Diamonds and Ash

Much passes between life and death. What means any of it I am not aware?

Like lumps of coal, we all start out on equal ground. But, some, in the fire and pressure of this life, burn fierce and consume those around them, while others become diamonds for all the gaze upon with fair eyes.

I’ve spent eight years in the pressure furnace of death row. The fire and pressure has been intense but , not consuming; more like a catalyst for change.

All has not been bad. Bliss comes in moments, and moments are all any of us get. I have taken advantage of those moments to grow and change. I am not the 17 year old that I was, but, the 25 year old that I am today.

Is change enough?

I just wish the fire and pressure would let up enough to find me a shining diamond. No a lump of coal simply burning to ash.
