Dear Reader:
Its 3:00am and I have no-one to talk to. I’ve had a vision that I will try to explain to you.
The copper coils on these radios
are inductors. When you pass an
alternating current through a coil it produces or inducts a magnetic field and
has a flow of electrons called inductive reactance. The size of the coil is measured in henry’s.
The coil on these Sony’s are less than one microhenry or 0.000001 henry. As frequency goes lower inductive reactance’s
goes lower.
The tuner on your radio, what you
use to change stations, is a variable capacitor. As you change stations different frequencies
resonate with the fixed coils with the result that you pick up different
stations. Since you can adjust it only
so far the number of stations you can pick up is finite, unless you change the
coils. That changes the value (henry) of
the inductor.
I figure if I can make a large
enough inductor with enough current running through it I can create an
electromagnetic filed strong enough to rip a hole in the space-time
continuum. I’ve just got to figure out
how may henry’s I’ll need to produce.
Capacitors make an open circuit in
a D.C (direct) current. Its like you
opened a switch to turn off the juice,
D.C won’t pass. But with an A.C (alternating) current it causes a
resistance called capacitive reactance. Both capacitive reactance and inductive
reactance are called impedance. As frequency goes up, capacitive reactance
goes down, just the opposite of an inductor, If you hook up a coil and a
capacitor in parallel :
and
hit a frequency where the impedance in both are the same this is called
resonant frequency, and the voltage drop across the circuit will be more than
the input voltage. Even after you unhook
the voltage source the circuit will ring. I think the secret to perpetual motion is in that strange phenomenon call
resonant frequency.
Remember at the beginning of this
letter how I said that it was 3:00am
and I had a vision and had nobody to talk to ? Well, that vision was this: that Einstein, Newton etc., .. were not super smart people. They just stayed up late at night and were
bored just like I am. Signed The thinker ! Written February, 2003
