Watching Shane McMahon in the ring was once just a "guilty pleasure"
that I had a hard time admitting. After his match Monday night against The
Rock, he has ascended to another level. As long as the WWF doesn't put him
in there too often, I think more fans will begin to have that same level
of respect for Shane-O-Mac as I do.
Does anyone else think having Tank Abbott lose to David Arquette on Monday
basically kills any credibility he may have had going into his inevitable
feud with Goldberg? Interference by DDMe or not, this guy went from
"toughest man on the planet" to "jobbed to Deputy Dewey" in a two-hour
time span.
The returns to the ring of Rob Van Dam and Jerry Lynn came at the right
time for ECW. With Mike Awesome already gone and rumors of Lance Storm
joining him, ECW needs its two most talented workers back in the fold. Can
a renewal of their epic 1999 feud be far away? Like the Hardy Boyz
fighting Edge and Christian, I don't think wrestling fans can get enough
of "The Whole F'n Show" vs. "The New F'n Show!"
Can somebody explain to me what the hell the WWF is trying to do with
Tazz? Does anyone in the WWF even know? He's sent to ECW to win its title
and wears the belt on TV. He even became a legitimate WWF title contender
with his excellent match with Triple H on SmackDown. As soon as he loses
the ECW belt, he's back to jobbing to Crash Freaking Holly! Calling out
Chris Benoit like he did on Monday could be a step in the right direction,
but I honestly don't think the WWF knows its plans for Tazz.
If Booker T comes back from his injury and starts talking in the third
person, I will find a gun and shoot my TV. With all the talent he has, the
only way Ruschoff thinks he can get over is to have him grow Rock-esque
sideburns, wear fancy clothes in his promos, have his tattoo symbol on the
back of his tights and execute the Rock Bottom and spinebuster in his
matches? It could be funny if WCW really went in that direction with him,
but it would also be insulting to a guy who has busted his ass off the
last two years to become a legit singles star.
RAW 7.4, Nitro 2.5 --- The numbers don't lie! It's not that WCW has done a
particularly bad job, it's just that the WWF has built up a fan base that
really doesn't care about WCW. The new breed of WWF fans watches WWF and
only WWF. I think WCW has done a good job making Monday nights fun again
for the true wrestling fans who like both companies, but WCW does not have
the same large loyal following that WWF has.
Slamboree has the potential to be very good, and it also has the
potential to stink worse than Brian Knobbs's "Pit Stop." Adding Arquette
to the main event was a step in the direction of the toilet, but if the
Sting/Vampiro and Douglas/Flair matches live up to the hype they are
getting, the undercard could still save the show.
That's all for now!! See ya next time!
