Cadillac Fairview announced that it was conducting
business as usual at its retail properties, with Eatons stores, following
the announcement by Sears Canada that Sears would discontinue operating its
Eatons stores under that brand.
Sears operated Eatons stores in the following
Cadillac Fairview's Toronto Eaton Centre in Toronto; Victoria Eaton Centre
in Victoria; Pacific Centre in Vancouver; Polo Park in Winnipeg; and Rideau
Centre in Ottawa. Cadillac Fairview does not anticipate any changes or
interruption in the operation of its shopping centres during the conversion
process, and has no current plans to change the names of Toronto Eaton
Centre or Victoria Eaton Centre.

Timing was all wrong for Sears to re-brand Eatons
as high-end
An attempt at department store re-branding ended
badly on February 16, 2002 when Sears Canada said it will convert its
Eatons store chain to Sears stores.
The company, controlled by U.S. retail giant Sears
Roebuck & Co, said it will probably close two stores and convert five
others to Sears outlets. - NATIONAL
