Side impact beams, collapsible steering column, front seatbelts with pretensioners, Fire Prevention System (FPS) and Alfa CODE are standard in all models.


Alfa 146 safety overview

The Fire Prevention System (FPS) has as one of its main components an inertia switch located under the driver seat, that cuts off the electric fuel pump in the event of a serious impact.

The Alfa CODE is an electronic immobiliser that prevents the engine from being started if the car's original key is not used.

The Alfa Romeo 145/146 was not tested by Euro NCAP, but the Fiat Brava (using the same floorpan) only scored two Euro NCAP stars at crash test.
