Models sharing Tipo floorpan

It has front McPherson struts and rear trailing arms suspension and a wheelbase of 2540 mm. This simple platform was shared by almost twelve models in the Fiat group.

Fiat Tipo

Fiat Tipo was launched in January 1988 to replace the Fiat Ritmo. Its production ends in 1995 when the Fiat Bravo/Brava is introduced.

Fiat Tempra

It was launched in February 1990 as a replacement for the Regata. It was available as a four door saloon and a five door estate (Station Wagon). In 1996 it was replaced by the Marea.

Lancia Dedra

It was produced between 1990 and 1999. It was replaced by the Lancia Lybra.

Lancia Delta (1993-1999)

This model was introduced to replace the "old" Delta. The name is the same but it's completely a new car. There was available with five or three doors body.

Alfa Romeo 155

It was released in January 1992 in Barcelona to replace the Alfa 75. There was a permanent four wheel drive version called Q4 with McPherson struts at the rear.

Alfa Romeo 145/146

It was produced between 1994 and 2000. The 146 is the five door version of the 145.

Fiat Coupe

Launched in 1993, it is the fastest Fiat ever produced. Its production ends in 2000.

Fiat Bravo/Brava

It was produced between 1995 and 2001. Brava is the five door version of the Bravo.

Fiat Marea

The Marea is the four door saloon version of the Bravo and the Marea Weekend is the five door estate. Its production ceased in Europe in 2002.

Fiat Punto mk1 (1993-1999)

It was presented in November 1993 to replace the Uno. It was replaced by the new Punto in 1999.

 

Models based on a modified Tipo floorpan

The next models are based on the Tipo floorpan too, but heavily modified. All of them are sharing a lot of components, but it is no adequate to call these cars as sharing platform. The Alfa 156, 147, GT and Lancia Lybra are based on the Alfa 155 but with many significant modifications.

Lancia Ypsilon

Based on a shortened Punto mk1 platform, every essential mechanical components are the same. The wheelbase is 2380 mm.

Fiat Punto mk2 (1999 on)

It was based on the Punto mk1 platform, maintains the front McPherson strut but replaces the rear trailing arms by a torsion beam suspension. The wheelbase is now 2460 mm.

Alfa GTV/Spider

Maintains the front McPherson strut but replaces the rear trailing arms by a multi-link rear suspension. The wheelbase is the same as the Tipo floorpan.

Fiat Barcheta

Without using the Punto mk1 floorpan, Fiat created the Barchetta roadster base on Punto’s component set, such as suspension, gearbox etc.

Alfa 156

The Alfa 156 is based on the Alfa 155 but has the front suspension changed to double-wishbones and a development of the Alfa 164 suspension with McPherson struts at the rear. The wheelbase is 2595 mm.

Alfa 147

It uses a chassis derived from the Alfa 156. The wheelbase has been shortened to 2546 mm and the suspension remains the same type as the 156.

Alfa GT

It's based on the Alfa 156 too. It has the same type of suspension but with stiffer anti-roll bars and revised damper settings. The wheelbase is 2596 mm.

Lancia Lybra

It uses a modified Alfa 156 floorpan. The front suspension is the same type as the 156, while the rear adopts a new Guided Longitudinal Arm (GLA) configuration. The wheelbase is 2593 mm.
