Big Smile Silver Tony (Hans Verhelle)
Feel the joie de vivre flood from the stage when Big Smile Tony pumps out the tunes! The sound of his voice is enormous and he turns up the heat by making his baritone saxophone growl a long, raunchy solo.
Tony has been the front man for the Smoky Midnight Gang since they formed in 1997. He joined the Chevy's group already a decade before that, when the band existed as a quartet.
Beneath the glamorous silver smile that has earned Tony his stage name, we find a man with a down-to-earth job.
"I'm still a teacher. I couldn't live without music and I wouldn't give up my sax for anything, but I also teach Dutch and History at a technical college."
