Ancient Words For Today - 8

There are times when we feel tired or exhausted and the pressing need for rest from our labors. We can become heavy laden with worry and stress from the pressures of performing our jobs, coping with strained personal relationships, financial crisis, health woes, or just staying afloat when we feel like the waves of adversity are about to take us under.

Jesus said that in such situations we should come to Him and that He would give us rest! Jesus understands our human limitations in coping with the difficulties of life that we face. He Himself faced great adversity while He was here on earth. Living as a man, He was tempted in every possible way, yet He called upon His heavenly Father for direction and strength, and was empowered by the Holy Spirit, in every situation, to do the will of the Father. Jesus will, in the same way, help us and strengthen us so that we will be able to persevere and overcome the adversity. As we confide in Him and abide in Him, we will find the rest that he promised.

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. 1 Cor 10:13

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. Gal 6:9

From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. Psalm 61:2

Lord, I pray we would find rest today, as we place our trust in you - in every situation.
