Ancient Words For Today - 82

Over the years we have seen much amazing and breathtaking scenery during our road trips through the United States and Canada. The Grand Canyon, in its vast and colorful splendor, is one of the most awesome and magnificent natural features we have visited. It is so deep, wide, and long that you just can't take it all in. Cast shadows wax and wane and the warm layered sandstone cliffs and pillars change color before your eyes as the sun passes from east to west.

I remember imagining how God might have fashioned the canyon. Perhaps He simply envisioned it and spoke it into existence - in a moment. Or maybe He used the earth-covering flood waters of Noah's day to carve out the great canyon from the soft mud bottom beneath as the flood waters receded and rushed to the sea. Possibly, He may have used the process of erosion over time - through countless cycles of rain, freezing and thawing, and a river cutting through the rock faces - ever widening and deepening the river valley as the debris flowed out to sea. Regardless of the method by which God created the Grand Canyon, it is a wonder to behold and shows his handiwork. The grandiose scale of the canyon makes onlookers appear to be very small and insignificant in comparison.

Likewise, when we consider that God created everything that exists in the heaven and earth, including mankind, we begin to understand how intelligent, awesome and wonderful our great God and redeemer is - and how by comparison we fall significantly short of His wisdom, power, righteousness and glory - in every way! Even though God's ways and thoughts are so much higher than ours - still He chooses to love us and He wants to spend quality time with us, transform us to be Christ-like, guide our lives for our good, and bless us. And He has a great plan for our future, both now (while we are on earth) and throughout eternity when we will see Him and live in His very presence.

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9

So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before thee. Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand. Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee. My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever. For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed all them that go a whoring from thee. But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works. Psalm 73:22-28

Jesus said, Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. John 14:1-3 & 12-14

Thank God for showing you the truth and coming into your life when you asked Him to. Praise Him for His mighty work in transforming your life and for the great things He has done for you and through you. Don't forget to tell others about the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ and what God has done in your life. Let them see through your life the mighty work of God - as He molds and shapes you into the image of His dear Son, Jesus, and accomplishes His will through you. Praise God - for the mighty things He has done!
