The wide area of the Hold that can support several dragons landing upon it has come to be known as the Dragontithe Flats. There, with a typical frequency of once every three months, the Alabaster dragonriders come to collect the tithing from Caledrus.
Since Caledrus Hold is a fairly well-to-do place, and they are largely protected by natural means more than draconic, the tithing that the Weyrhold collects are reasonably low. There have only been two times in their history when the Hold has refused to tithe, and both of those due to the hardship of the recent months' work.
When a dragon other than one from Alabaster arrives, it is a cause for curiosity if not celebration - it might mean that there is a Search on!
Search dragons often find strong, durable and intelligent candidates among the members of this Hold. From Lowborn all the way through the crafts and Lordlings, there are usually a good number of folk ready to head off to a Weyr.
