Mrs. Stark is the head of the Stark family. Feeling insecured with her timid husband and a disapproving mother-in-law, she has every reason to be dominant and bossy. She constantly criticizes and picks on her husband Frank's actions and ideas. It is not only frustrating and humiliating to her husband, but also to their son Jim as well. It is this frustration that leads Jim into all kinds of troubles. To avoid taking any unwelcomed consequences and responsibilities, the Stark family moves a lot. In the night Buzz was killed, Mrs. Stark suggests another move. She believes that a foolish decision will ruin both his son's and the family's life. Jim is outraged. "You're not going to use me as an excuse again, Mom. Every time you can't face yourself you want to move and you say it's because of me or the neighborhood or some other phony excuse. Now I want to do one thing right and I'm not letting you run away." He cried. The incident leads to an unexpected result at the end. It is not until later when Mrs. Stark finds both her husband and boy have grown up into two mature men that she can truly depend on. It is the first time in many years that she can finally sit back, smile, and relax.
