December the 22, 2000

- Ally McBeal got a few Golden Globe nominations this morning. It was nominated for Best Comedy Series, Best Actress Calista) and Best Supporting Actor (RDJ).

- Robert Downey Jr. was in a Malibu court Tuesday to hear a ruling on whether or not he had served enough prison time for violating his probation from previous drug convictions. His troubles began in June 1996, when police made a routine traffic stop and uncovered cocaine, heroin and a loaded pistol. One month later. Downey was found passed out on a child's bed in a neighbor's house, and three days later the actor was busted for leaving a court enforced stay at a recovery center.

- Calista Flockhart's publicist announced Friday that the actress spent close to six hours at Torrance hospital near Los Angeles this past Wednesday after she fainted while taping an episode of Ally McBeal ( as i explained to you in december the 18th). It probably happened in part because of the extreme pressure that the cast and crew has been under since Robert Downey Jr.'s drug charges. They were taping the 12th episode of the season and Downey's last episode when she passed out. The episode is
scheduled to air February 5.

December the 18th, 2000

- Calista was hospitalized on Thursday. She fainted on the set and was immediately taken to the hospital. She is suffering from fatigue and dehyderation. At the hospital they gave her an IV which lasted 6 hours, and was allowed after that to go home. And on Friday, she was already back on the set. What do you think of this? December the 10th, 2000

- When cops busted Downey last Saturday, the actor was said to be sad that night about being apart from his 7-year old son, Indio. In last Monday's episode Downey's character Larry Paul suffered the holiday blues because he's estranged from his 7-year-old son. There's another odd coincidence as well. Downey is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 27, in the Riverside County city of Indio - as in his son's name.In other Robert news, some of the tabloids were buzzing that the mystery snitch was one of Downey's Ally McBeal castmates, the latest speculation points to a male employee of a topless bar Downey patronized the night he was arrested.

- Producer David E. Kelley finally commented on the situation to syndicated Access Hollywood saying "I don't know what it's going to mean for his future or the show's just yet." Downey was back to work on Ally McBeal the Tuesday after his arrest and is in the midst of filming his ninth episode with one more (the last he is under contract for) set to tape before Ally goes on hiatus December 19.

-The nominees for the 27th Annual People's Choice Awards are in and Ally McBeal is up for one award. Calista Flockhart will be up against Jennifer Aniston (Rachel, Friends) and Jenna Elfman (Dharma, Dharma & Greg) for the Female Television Performer award. The top vote-getters in all 18 categories will be announced on January 7 at 9 p.m. ET/PT when the show, hosted by King of Queens star Kevin James, airs on CBS.

-Why did Courtney leave Ally McBeal you ask? Well actress Courtney Thorne-Smith (Georgia) says she left at the end of last season partly because she was tired from dieting excessively to compete with her co-stars. She is quoted in US Weekly Magazine as saying "I started undereating, overexercising, pushing myself too hard and brutalizing my immune system." (Bare in mind the magazine has become tabloidish as of late.)

-As soon as police snapped on the handcuffs in a Palm Springs hotel room on Saturday, Downey apparently told them "I just want you to know, you've ruined my career, and you've ruined my life." Robert's uncle, Jim Downey, is blaming Hollywood for his nephew's latest troubles calling Hollywood "the cruelest taskmaster of all," for forcing the Ally McBeal guest star back to work before he was ready. Offers started flowing in even before he left prison in August after serving one year for a previous drug offense. "It was not enough time for him to settle down and gather his strength," he told USA Today. > >As well as appearing in Ally McBeal, Downey had signed to co-star in January in a film called American Sweethearts, with Julia Roberts and Catherine Zeta-Jones, and to play Hamlet next summer in a stage play directed by his friend Mel Gibson. He also recently played tennis with Chuck Binder, Sharon Stone's manager, in what was said to have been a preliminary discussion of him starring opposite the actress in Basic Instinct 2. All of his plans are now in doubt because he must appear in court Dec. 27 to face charges of drug possession that could put him back in jail for up to five years and even if he is acquitted, insurance companies may be reluctant to underwrite his films. Mr. Downey, is continuing treatment at Walden House, which is a sober-living environment run by a non-profit organization for hardcore addicts in Los Angeles and according to his spokesperson "He's concentrating on work and himself. He's a recovering addict. Recovering addicts have relapses. He's working hard at his sobriety, as he has for the last 18 months." > >It was speculated that the unidentified man who tipped off police about Downey's drug use "was just somebody who knew he was there and wanted to make a big ordeal about it." > >James Toback, who directed Downey in Black and White, denounced the tipster as "the lowest form of scum... it didn't accomplish anything putting him in a rathole. Zero.

-Actor Robert Downey Jr., who was just released from prison three months ago, faces more legal troubles for alleged drug abuse.
The 35-year-old actor, who has a recurring role on the popular television show, "Ally McBeal," was bailed out early Sunday after police in Palm Springs arrested him late Saturday night and charged him with possession of cocaine and methamphetamine.

Officers responded to an anonymous 911 call at around 9 p.m. PST, indicating there were drugs and guns in a hotel room at the Merv Griffin Resort, the Palm Springs Police Department said in a statement. When they arrived, they found Downey alone in the room with the cocaine and methamphetamine. He was arrested without incident, the police said.

-The wave of celebrity guest stars that are hitting Ally McBeal this season is almost unbelievable. From Taye Diggs to Anne Heche to Marlo Thomas.

-Columbia, the film studio behind Charlie's Angels, has given Lucy Liu a new Porsche as a gift for starring in the blockbuster movie. Liu was the last angel cast and received a smaller paycheck than Cameron Diaz and Barrymore.

-Charlie's Angels made close to $100 million at the box office after only two weeks in release so you decide if the Porsche was just a gift or an incentive to sign on for another go around.

-As a big New York Yankees fan, Calista Flockhart was extremely pleased with the outcome of the World Series which wrapped up last night. She got free tickets & enough time off to be able to fly to New York for a few of the games.

-Macy Gray will be on Ally McBeal again this year. She'll appear on the November 27 episode entitled "Tis' The Season". Macy will be singing the Christmas classic "Winter Wonderland" which also appears on the Ally McBeal Christmas Album. (which cover and song listing you can view by clicking here )

-Michelle Pfeiffer, David E. Kelley's wife, has spoken for the first time about rumors of an alleged affair between her husband & Ally star Calista Flockhart.  She told the British weekly magazine Now that they have had to deal with many lies before but this one particularly hurt as the couple's two children, Claudia Rose, 7, and John Henry, 6, heard the broadcast on their way to school .  Needless to say her children's friends and teachers heard it making it extremely hard on her kids.  The radio station ultimately aired a retraction but it definitely hurt. Michelle says Ally McBeal is one of her favourites shows and that she gets mad when there's a re-run.

- After hosting Live with Regis in New York for two days, Jane Krakowski (Elaine), caught a flight back to Los Angeles for a cover shoot and some work on the Ally McBeal set.  While in New York Jane took in some Broadway shows including the first viewing of "The Full Monty" (based on the hit movie) .  Calista wasn't the only world traveler in the cast this year.  Jane told Regis that she went to Krakow, Poland this summer to discover her roots and was noticed by fans quite often as Ally is very popular there.

-Lucy Liu (ling) and Jane Krakowski attended the Barbara Streisand concert In LA a few nights ago and jane stoped by to chat with E.T (entertainment tonight).

- In this moth's InStyle several celebrities are dressed up as icons from the past, guess who's dressed up as Audrey Hepburn? Calista Flockhart! I thought she kinda looked like Audrey before and when i knew about this i was surprised, this month's InStyle's cool , you can find it in stores now.

- Last night on MTV's making the video there was the first promotion for Charlie's angels. The lead single is called "Independent Woman" and it's by Destinys Child. The video features the three angels (Lucy, Drew and Cameron).

Look for the soundtrack in a couple of weeks.

- Calista and Lucy are also pictured on People magazine's annual Emmy fashion.

- As it's said on the EMMY 2000 page Ally just won one out of three emmy nominations, but the cast members of the show brighted in what's respected to fashion. Calista Flockhart (dressed byAlberta Ferretti) was one of the best dressed ladies of the evening. Lucy Liu made it up on stage too witha sparkling silver colum dress. Calista gave out one of the most important awards, the one to James Gandolfini of the Sopranos for Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series.

- Calista Flockhart ( Ally) has moved from The Gersh agency ( New York Cityt) to theUnited Talent Agency ( Los Angeles) according to today´s Variety. She has been in The Gersh Agency for the last six years.

August the 21th, 2000

- In the Spanish version of "Hello" magazine there´s an interview with Calista Flockhart (Ally), with two beautiful and brand new pictures, and where she answers to things related to her name, childhood, fame, body, the series and love.

- The three new Charlie´s Angels : Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu (Ling) appear on September´s Premiere magazine. The girls talk about their life, and about the filming of the movie.

- Dyan Cannon, who plays judge Jennifer, but known as "Whipper" will join the cast of the NBC´s comedy series "Three sisters", where she´ll appear as the mother of the "Three sisters". But don´t worry, she´ll continue with her apearances in Ally McBeal.

- Calista Flockhart (Ally) is featured in a new book entitled "Bobbi Brown Teenage Beauty" , this book can be found in stores now, and it´s by Annemarie Iverson & Bobbi Brown.

August the fourth, 2000

- Calista Flockhart (Ally), Portia de Rossi (Nelle), and Jane Krakowski (Elaine) are all in the August´s "In Style" magazine (the one with Liz Hurley on the cover). Calista is pictured once, and Portia and Jane twice , Portia appears with Dior sunglasses, and also at the Mission Imposible 2 premiere.

- Lucy Liu (Ling), and Portia de Rossi (Nelle) are in August´s Seventeen magazine (the one with Jennifer Aniston on the cover). There´s a full fashion page on Lucy Liu, and Portia is pictured, too.

- Greg Germann appeared at the Fourth annual Justice Ball as a honorary event chair.

- Ally McBeal has three emmy nominations. Unfortunately it was left out on the main categories " Best lead actress in a comedy series" and "Best comedy series", but one of the nominations " Best supporting Actor in a Comedy series" is for Peter MacNicol (the hot little biscuit), who´s fighting it out with Peter Boyle (Everybody Loves Raymond), Brad Garrett (Everybody Loves Raymond), Sean Hayes (Will & Grace) and David Hyde Pierce (Frasier). It was also nominated for "Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series" for Ally McBeal: TheMusical which was directed by Bill D'Elia and "Outstanding Sound Mixing For A Comedy Series or A Special" for the episode entitled Car Wash with Paul M.
