Chapter 2: Death of Queen Cara

"What happened?" Willow sobbed against Angel's chest.

"Your spell was broken." Cara sat down next to her mother and father. "I was betrayed."

Cara began to explained.

"The first strike on the Amazon home was repelled by the first, second and fourteenth fleets combined firepower. I ordered the shamans find a way to rebind the ring's power. To find the enchantments to lock the ring forever, making it useless to the Lord of Mordor, since if his power was locked down inside the ring so would his ability to command his forces.

I did not know there was a turn coat in our numbers. The betrayer disabled the ground to space defences on the southern continent.

They punched though. Without the ground batteries to protect the fourteenth fleet's rear, the ships and the fleet were lost.

I then had no choice, but to face the enemy directly. They could not be displaced. They out numbered the forces that I could gather. The colonies required all their forces just to complete their evacuations. Mordor's forces had landed on those worlds. We were being over ran on all fronts. The fighting was nothing more than a fighting retreat.

I decide to confront his forces myself. I led a counter attack. The arm consisted of 5,000 we went in secret and opened a second front at the Bay of Lightning. It worked he diverted the bulk of his forces towards us. That was when reinforcements from Bachae colonies reached us. 10,000 extra troops. We hit the invaders hard. In the middle of the battle I came face to face with the Lord of Mordor. He had the ring!

We fought for nine days and nights. He laughed the whole time. He took pride in saying how he had killed my consort. That is when he revealed that while I was battling him, his forces were looting the palace.

I was hit by an arrow. It was poisoned. My sight failed. My strength was quickly going. I could not stop his war axe."

Cara looked at the floor.

"I was betrayed a second time. A Bachae had fired the arrow, that left me defenceless." Cara looked at her mother Willow. "The other Bachae tore her apart."

Angelus sighed. Three days before they reached the cloaked forth and fifth fleets. He was Hermione's regent. Now, he had the task of saving all what was left of her people. The reports on the status screens showed the numbers of missing, dead or injured.

The enemy could not be defeated. Not, in what was left of nations. No, there was another way. Something forgotten. The gates though them they could escape, heal and lick their wounds wait for the time when Hermione was old enough to call on Fire Blade

"Well, little one lets see about saving the nation." He spoke softly to the infant queen. He made a note to wash off the small red blood strain. It was the caste mark from her sister the missing Princess. Her sister if alive could reclaim the Queenhood at anytime. Though no word had been received for 24 hours.

He man walked over to a communication panel. "Communications Centre. Activate Scrambled link."
