Brandy
Chapter Eight
Willow's mind was all fuzzy. She didn't know what had happened. One second she was talking with Faith and the next she was here in ....a field? Willow looked around in awe and amazement. She was in a wide open field and it was covered in wild flowers of all sorts.
The ground was as green and crisp as any she had ever seen and the sky was as blue as the Pacific on a clear day. And off in the distance was a small hill with a lone oak tree on it. Willow wondered where she was.
"Hello beautiful." a voice said from behind her. A voice she knew.
Willow closed her eyes tightly and hoped against hope that she was right. She really wanted to talk with him once again. She had missed him. He
was the first sacrifice that her and Xander had made in their attempts to
help out in the fight against all things evil. She slowly turned, and there behind her stood the brown haired high school geek that was Jesse.
"Jesse?"
"Yeah Wills, it's me."
"Am I dead?" Willow asked, as she tried to hold off tears. Both from the shock of seeing Jesse again and from the fear at his answer, she already had an idea that she was.
"Yeah Willow, you are dead." said a second voice. This one belonging to a woman. Willow turned and took in the sight of a couple. A man with brown hair and smiling blue eyes. He was tall and kinda had the same build as Xander. The woman was a pretty light redhead. She had a gentle smile and compassionate green eyes. The same eyes as...Harry.
"Lily and James Potter?" Willow asked, staring at the couple.
"Yes, that is who we are. But not just who we are." Lily replied. She and James started walking over to the hill and the oak tree. Jesse held his hand out to Willow and they followed.
As they sat under the tree, Willow let her tears silently fall down her face. Jesse held her while she cried. Telling her not to lose hope.
"How can I not lose hope, Jess? I'm dead. Like you and the Potters." Willow asked, wiping the tears off her face.
"Well, you see that is where you are wrong." James stated gently.
Willow looked to the man, "Has death made you nuts or were you like that before? I'm as dead as you three." she demanded gesturing to the three people.
"Well, you see Willow, when I died, I sacrificed myself for my son. And also for the furture witches in my family. And that includes you. You and Harry are the only ones that can stop him." Lily informed the girl.
"Wait... what? I don't know you other than you're Harry's mom and dad."
"You are Shelia's daughter, so that makes you part of my family." Lily replied looking at the redhead with her.
"What does my sorry excuse for a mother have to do this?" Willow asked irritably.
"Shelia is the connection you have with us. And partly the reason you aren't dead."
"What? Would you please make sense?"
"Willow I am Shelia's sister Lily. Didn't she tell you about us?"
Willow stared at the woman who had just said she was her aunt. *But my mom is an only child.*
"You think it was an accident that you got into magic?" James asked smiling at the young woman.
Willow didn't know what to say. She was related to the Potters? That was a shock. And what role did Jess play in all this?
"Ok so I am your long lost niece and I am gonna help Harry take down Lord-pain-in-the-butt and that is why we are talking. What about you Jesse? I mean what do you have to do with all of this? Besides being my friend who was turned into a snack."
Jesse chuckled, "Well I may have been a 'snack' but when I died I was made a higher being. More specifically your's and Xander's gaurdian angel."
"Wait... you're a what?"
"Gaurdain Angel. Your's, Xander's, and the rest of the gang's....even Cordila's."
"Well it looks like you're in the same predicament you were in when you were alive. So close yet so far from her. And now Xand has her."
"I know, I sent them to each other. Kind of my way of letting him know I'm not mad for the whole 'him staking my evil self'. And I sent you Oz, much to the dismay of my better jugement. By the way, I am so sorry about how that turned out. But hey, we have better plans for your future love life. And on that note, you need to go back..there are a lot of people in grief right now." Jesse stood up bringing Willow with him. He smiled and tucked a piece of hair behind her ear.
"You know, I chased Cordila because the person I loved was chasing some one else. Remember, I will always love you Wills." he said as he laid a small kiss on her lips. The kiss said everything that was left unspoken and had the truth behind Jesse's statement about his love.
"And tell Harry we love him." Lily said as she hugged her neice.
"And be carful. I DO NOT want to see you back here before it's time." James stated sternly with a twinkle in his eyes at his neice.
"And tell the gang I said hi and me and the mrs. are watching over you." Jesse muttered as he hugged the girl once again.
"The MRS. you're married? I kissed a married man?" Willow asked in shock.
"Yeah, but don't worry, she doesn't mind. She told me if I ever got the chance to tell you how I felt, to do it and give you a kiss. Kendra is pretty cool when comes to the subject of you."
"KENDRA? you married Kendra? Oh Jess...."
"Time to go Wills.."
Xander stood at the window in the infirmary. His back to the bed that held the body of his best friend. He had always thought that the scoobies were invincible. But now he knew he had been wrong. All he had to do was look at the body of his friend and know that reality had hit hard and at a great cost. Will's life, his Will's life.
Xander was so wrapped up in his thoughts that he never heard the sounds of feet crossing the room, until he heard the door shut. He whirled around and saw that the bed that had held Willow's body was empty.
"Hey come back with her bo....with her." Xander screamed as he made a dash for the door. He reached the door and yanked it open and rushed down the hall in pursuit of the person who had taken Willow.
He caught sight of a redhead down the hall from the main corridor. A redheaded girl.
It took him a second to regain his composure. He reached the girl and turned her to face him. And he was thrown for a loop. His world turned upside down.
Standing before him was his best friend. Her eyes were a mix of hurt and happiness.
"Oh God Wills." he whispered, wrapping the girl in a tight hug. And unbeknownst to him, he had tears streaming down his face.
He finally let go after what seemd forever and a day. He took in the way she looked. "How?"
She smiled at him and motioned to the doors that lead to the Great Hall.
He smiled and followed her to the doors.
"Yo Buff you are not gonna believe this." he said as he opened the doors.
