Prospero's Children begins an intriguing trilogy deeply based in British folklore with Arthurian and Atlantean legends combining in a rich mixture.

The mysterious house where Fern and her brother Will spend their summer holiday is where it all starts.   The familiar fabric of their reality is being fractured around them, revealing an ancient talisman that has been sought by forces both benign and evil for many thousands of years.  Only someone who has the Gift can use it to open the Door, and They suspect Fern of being that someone.  Both Ragginbone, the mysterious old man who appears in the fields outside the house with a wolf called Lougarry, and Javier Holt, the oily and quite sinister art dealer need Fern, but what for?  Fern has more pressing matters on her mind, like Alison, her father's new girlfriend.  She suspects Alison is after more than just her father's money, a suspicion that is justified after she investigates Alison's bedroom.  Unfortunately for Fern, everything is linked and she must choose between love and destiny.

In the Dragon Charmer, Fern is older and wiser.  She is desperately trying to forget what happened during the summer she turned 17, but her Gift won't leave her alone, especially when she makes a visit to the old house while preparing for her forthcoming wedding.  This time it is her friend Gaynor who has to help Will and Lougarry to find out what the sinister Dr Laye wants as Fern is in a catatonic state in hospital after a mysterious car accident...

The trilogy concludes with Witch's Honour and when someone has read the book, there will be a short review of it!
