During the past twenty-five years the writer has come across many examples of foreign cut glass that have spent part of their lives on American tables and in American china cabinets. All of the glass chosen for this folder share this characteristic, and one additional one: this is glass of fine quality. The examples are not inferior to American cut glass. Most are made of lead glass; exceptions are noted. Items are categorized as to their likely place (and date) of manufacture, but in most cases this information should be regarded as tentative and subject to change as additional evidence is brought forward. The writer hopes that readers will help him in this regard. He can be contacted at jmhavens99@hotmail.com
Most of the items in these files were previously owned by the writer, but to fill in some gaps in the country-listings a few examples have been lifted from that inexhaustible resource, the Internet (mainly eBay). They are identified as "Image: Internet".
