Salvador - BA
Brazil was born here. Capital of the federal state of Bahia where Pedro Alvares Cabral, the discoverer of Brazil, arrived his expedition.

Salvador was during decades the largest port of arrival for African slaves in Brazil. This led to a legacy of African habits in Brazil. Even today the city is a fascinating example of how two utterly different cultures have become completely and successfully integrated.

Today, Afro-Brazilian culture is reflected mainly in the music, dance festivals and handicrafts. It is no wonder that Salvador is host to the largest street carnival in Brazil. Every year at carnival time, the entire city lives purely for dance and music.

This is where the mystical and spectacular Afro-Brazilian culture had its origin.
