American Hairless Rat Terrier Club

Code of Ethics

The American Hairless Rat Terrier Club is a non-profit dog breed club for the preservation and promotion of the RatTerrier - Hairless Variety. The Club has set forth certain rules and regulations that it expects all of its members to abide by. Failure to abide by these set rules and regulations may cause loss of all member's rights and privileges in the American Hairless Rat Terrier Club.

Rule 1: No one may knowingly make final decisions for the AHRTC. Ideas or suggestions should be presented to an AHRTC Officer who will then distribute the idea to the other officers. We want input from our members and your ideas are always welcome but they must be discussed between the Club Officers before being made final. Important decisions will be voted on by the entire membership.

Rule 2: The AHRTC will not tolerate threatening, intimidating or abusing of any other member of the Club or of anyone affiliated with any other club that accepts the Rat Terrier-Hairless Variety

Rule 3: When attending events such as dog shows, matches, field trials, agility trials, etc. all AHRTC members must abide by the rules and regulations set forth by the sponsoring club.

Rule 4: The AHRTC expects all members to present themselves in a manner that best represents our Club and our Breed. We expect everyone to exhibit good sportsmanship and integrity at all times.

Rule 5: The AHRTC expects our members to treat all dogs with respect and in a humane manner.

Rule 6: No member will be allowed to be involved with puppymills or dog brokers. It is also advised that no member be involved with breeding for the purpose of selling puppies to pet stores.

Rule 7: It is advised that all "pet" quality dogs be sold on a spay/neuter contract or spayed/neutered before placing in its new home.

Rule 8: The AHRTC will not tolerate falsifying of any kind of records on your dog or any other dog. This includes registration certificates, pedigrees, show wins, or health certificates.

Rule 9: The AHRTC has the right to send a representative to inspect any kennel that it deems necessary. The breeder must be willing to allow our representative to come out and inspect.

Rule 10: The AHRTC expects members to take the best possible care of their dogs with proper veterinary care & up-to-date vaccinations. All dogs must be presented in a healthy manner when on public display.

Rule 11: Failure to abide by the AHRTC Code of Ethics by any member may be cause for expulsion from the AHRTC. This expulsion could affect future registration of dogs and puppies.

Rule 12: AHRTC members will be expected to follow the rules and regulations set forth by UKC.

I have read the above AHRTC Code of Ethics and do agree to follow the rules as stated. I understand that refusal to abide by these rules and regulations will result in my dismissal from the AHRTC.
