BROWN SUGAR NUT BARS
(Yield: 2 dozen)

1 cup shortening
1 cup butter or margarine, softened
2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
4 eggs
1½ cups self-rising flour
2 cups chopped pecans
Confectioners’ sugar

Preheat oven to 350°F.  Spray a 13x9-inch baking pan with non-stick vegetable spray.

In a large mixing bowl, cream shortening, butter, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.  Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.  Stir in flour and pecans until well blended.  Spoon into prepared baking pan; smooth the top.

Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until lightly browned.  Cool in pan on a wire rack.  Dust with confectioners’ sugar.  Cut into squares.
