BUTTERSCOTCH BROWNIES
(Yield: 1½ dozen)

¼ cup butter or margarine
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 egg
¾ cup self-rising flour
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
½ cup chopped walnuts

Preheat oven to 375°F.  Spray a 9x9-inch baking pan with non-stick vegetable spray.

In a large saucepan, melt butter; beat in brown sugar.  Add egg, flour, vanilla, and walnuts; beat until smooth and well blended.  Pour into prepared baking pan.

Bake 25 minutes.  Cool in pan on a wire rack.  Cut into squares.
