CAKE
BROWNIES
(Yield: 2 dozen)
½ cup butter or margarine
½ cup vegetable oil
1 cup water
¼ cup cocoa powder
2 cups self-rising flour
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
½ cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ cup butter or margarine
3 tablespoons cocoa powder
1/3 cup buttermilk
1 pound confectioners' sugar
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray a 13x9-inch baking pan with
non-stick vegetable spray.
In a small saucepan, combine butter, oil, water, and cocoa powder;
heat, stirring constantly, until mixture boils.
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and sugar; add chocolate mixture,
beating until smooth. Add eggs, buttermilk and vanilla; beat until
smooth. Pour into prepared baking pan.
Bake for 20 minutes.
In a medium saucepan, combine butter, cocoa powder, buttermilk, confectioner's
sugar, walnuts, and vanilla; heat, stirring constantly, until mixture is
smooth. DO NOT BOIL.
Pour over brownies immediately after removing from oven. Cool
in pan on a wire rack; cut into squares.
