CHERRY OAT SQUARES
(Yield: 16 cookies)

1/3 cup sugar
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup rolled oats
½ cup butter or margarine, softened
¾ cup all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 21-ounce can Cherry Pie Filling

Preheat oven to 400°F.  Spray a 9x9-inch baking pan with non-stick vegetable spray.

In a large mixing bowl combine sugar, nuts, oats, butter, and flour; mix until crumbly.  Reserve 1½ cups of the mixture.  Press remaining crumb mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking pan.  Stir cinnamon into pie filling; spread over the crumb crust.  Sprinkle reserved crumb mixture over the top, pressing lightly.

Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until lightly browned.  Cool.  Cut into squares.
