CHOCOLATE CHIP SQUARES
(Yield: 2½ dozen)

2¼ cups self-rising flour
1 teaspoon cardamom
1 cup butter or margarine, softened
1¼ cups sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 12-ounce package semisweet chocolate morsels
1 cup chopped nuts

Preheat oven to 350°F.  Spray a 13x9-inch baking pan with non-stick vegetable spray.

In a small bowl, combine flour and cardamom; set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.  Add egg and vanilla; beat well.  Stir in flour mixture.  Stir in chocolate morsels and nuts.  Spread in prepared baking pan.

Bake 25 to 30 minutes.  Cool in pan on a wire rack.  Cut lengthwise into 6 strips; cut each strip into 5 pieces.
