CHOCOLATE CHIP WREATHS
(Yield: 4 dozen)

¾ cup butter-flavored shortening
1¼ cups firmly packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons milk
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 egg
2 cups self-rising flour
1 cup semisweet chocolate morsels
1 cup chopped pecans
Icing (below)
Red and green chewy candies, cut into small pieces

Preheat oven to 375°F.  Spray cookie sheets with non-stick vegetable spray.

In a large mixing bowl, combine shortening, brown sugar, milk, and vanilla; beat until light and fluffy.  Add egg; beat until well blended.  Add flour, stirring until just blended.  Stir in chocolate morsels and pecans.  Divide dough into 4 equal pieces.  Divide each piece of dough into 12 equal pieces; form each piece into a small ball.  Arrange the balls on cookie sheets to form an 8-inch circle.  Flatten the balls slightly.   Repeat with remaining dough.

Bake, 1 cookie sheet at a time, 12 to 14 minutes or until lightly browned.  Cool completely on cookie sheets before removing.  Decorate with icing and chewy candy pieces.
