CHRISTMAS BUTTER COOKIES
(Yield: 4 dozen)

1 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tablespoon milk
2¾ cups self-rising flour

In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.  Add egg, milk, and vanilla; beat until well blended.  Stir in flour until dough forms.  Cover; refrigerate for 1 hour.

Preheat oven to 350°F.  Spray cookie sheets with non-stick vegetable spray.

On a lightly floured board, roll dough to 1/8-inch thickness; cut into desired shapes.  Place, 1-inch apart, on prepared cookie sheets.

Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned.  Remove from cookie sheets; cool completely on a wire rack.  Decorate as desired.
