CHRISTMAS
CHEER COOKIES
(Yield: 6 dozen)
1 cup butter or margarine, softened
1½ cups firmly packed brown sugar
3 eggs
3 cups self-rising flour
16 ounces chopped dates
16 ounces chopped walnuts
8 ounces golden raisins
½ cup whiskey
1 10-ounce jar maraschino cherries, drained and cut in halves
Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly spray cookie sheets with
non-stick vegetable spray.
In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add eggs; beat thoroughly. Stir in flour, dates, walnuts, raisins,
and whiskey. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto prepared cookie sheets.
Top each with cherry halves.
Bake for 12 until or until lightly browned. Remove from cookie
sheets; cool completely on a wire rack. Store in an airtight container.
