MAPLE
OAT CHEWS
(Yield: 2 dozen)
½ cup butter or margarine
½ cup maple syrup
½ cup sugar
1 cup rolled oats
¾ cup whole wheat flour
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
¾ cup semisweet chocolate morsels
Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray a large cookie sheet with
non-stick vegetable spray.
In a large mixing bowl, cream butter, maple syrup, and sugar until
light and fluffy.
In a medium bowl, combine oats, flour, salt, soda, and cinnamon;
add to creamed mixture, stirring until well blended. Stir in chocolate
morsels. Drop by tablespoonfuls, 4-inches apart, on prepared cookie
sheet.
Bake 13 to 15 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove from
cookie sheet; cool completely on a wire rack.
