MOIST
AND CHEWY BROWNIES
(Yield: 2½ dozen)
4 1-ounce squares unsweetened chocolate
½ cup butter or margarine
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
1 cup self-rising flour
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup chopped walnuts
Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray a 13x9-inch baking pan with
non-stick vegetable spray.
In a large saucepan, melt chocolate and butter. Remove from
heat. Gradually stir in sugar until well blended. Add eggs,
one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in flour, then
vanilla, and finally the walnuts. Pour into prepared baking pan;
smooth top.
Bake for 30 to 40 minutes or until a tester comes out with a few
crumbs hanging to it. Cool slightly; cut into bars.
Brownies may be frosted or dusted with confectioners' sugar, if desired.
