NUTS-FOR-CHOCOLATE
BARS
(Yield: 3 dozen)
2 cups self-rising flour
½ cup sugar
½ cup butter or margarine
1 4-ounce package sweet chocolate
¼ cup butter or margarine
1 cup corn syrup
½ cup sugar
3 eggs
1½ teaspoons vanilla extract
1½ cups chopped walnuts
Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a 13x9-inch baking pan with
aluminum foil. Grease lightly with butter or margarine.
In a medium bowl, combine flour and sugar. Cut in butter until
mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Press firmly into the bottom of
prepared baking pan.
Bake for 20 minutes or until edges are lightly browned.
In a large microwave-safe bowl, microwave chocolate and butter on
HIGH for 1½ minutes or until butter is melted. Stir until
chocolate is completely melted. Stir in corn syrup, sugar, eggs,
and vanilla until well blended. Pour over the crust. Sprinkle
with walnuts.
Bake for 30 minutes or until the filling is set. Cool in pan
on a wire rack. Remove to a cutting board; cut into bars.
