OLD-FASHIONED CARAMEL BARS
(Yield: 2½ dozen)

2-1/3 cups self-rising flour
2 cups rolled oats
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 cup butter or margarine, melted
1 12-ounce package semisweet chocolate morsels
1½ cups chopped walnuts
1 12¼-ounce jar caramel ice-cream topping

Preheat oven to 350°F.  Spray a 13x9-inch baking pan with non-stick vegetable spray.

In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups flour, oats, and brown sugar.  Stir in butter.  Reserve 1 cup of the mixture.  Press remaining mixture into prepared baking pan.

Bake for 15 minutes or until lightly browned.  Remove from oven.

Sprinkle with chocolate morsels and walnuts.  Combine caramel topping with remaining 1/3 cup flour; drizzle over the base.  Sprinkle with reserved crumb mixture.

Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until lightly browned.  Cool in pan on a wire rack.  Cut into bars.
