PRALINE BROWNIES
(Yield: 16 squares)

½ cup firmly packed brown sugar
¼ cup butter or margarine
2 tablespoons evaporated milk
½ cup coarsely chopped pecans
½ cup butter or margarine, softened
2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1½ cups self-rising flour
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 350°F.  Lightly spray an 8x8-inch baking pan with non-stick vegetable spray.

In a small saucepan, combine brown sugar, butter, and evaporated milk.  Over low heat, cook, stirring constantly, until butter melts.  Pour into prepared baking pan.  Sprinkle evenly with pecans.

In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.  Beat in eggs.  Stir in flour and vanilla.  Spread over pecans.

Bake 45 to 50 minutes or until a tester inserted in the center comes out clean.  Cool for 5 minutes in pan.  Invert onto a cutting board.  Cool for 5 minutes.  Cut into bars.
