PRALINE
BROWNIES
(Yield: 16 squares)
½ cup firmly packed brown sugar
¼ cup butter or margarine
2 tablespoons evaporated milk
½ cup coarsely chopped pecans
½ cup butter or margarine, softened
2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1½ cups self-rising flour
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly spray an 8x8-inch baking
pan with non-stick vegetable spray.
In a small saucepan, combine brown sugar, butter, and evaporated
milk. Over low heat, cook, stirring constantly, until butter melts.
Pour into prepared baking pan. Sprinkle evenly with pecans.
In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until light
and fluffy. Beat in eggs. Stir in flour and vanilla.
Spread over pecans.
Bake 45 to 50 minutes or until a tester inserted in the center comes
out clean. Cool for 5 minutes in pan. Invert onto a cutting
board. Cool for 5 minutes. Cut into bars.
