SNICKERNOODLES
(Yield: 4 dozen)
2¾ cups self-rising flour
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 cup shortening
1¼ cups sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Preheat oven to 400°F.
In a medium bowl, combine flour and cream of tartar; set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, cream shortening and sugar until light and
fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Stir in flour mixture until
well blended.
In a small bowl, combine sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
Roll tablespoonfuls of the dough to form balls. Roll in sugar
mixture; place, 2-inches apart, on UNGREASED cookie sheets.
Bake for 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove from cookie
sheets; cool on a wire rack.
