SPICED
ALMOND MACAROONS
(Yield: 2 dozen)
¾ cup sugar
1½ cups ground almonds
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
3 egg whites
2 tablespoons sliced almonds
Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray cookie sheets with non-stick
vegetable spray.
In a medium bowl, combine sugar, almonds, and cinnamon.
In a large mixing bowl, beat egg whites until stiff. Gently
fold in the almond mixture. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls, 2-inches
apart, onto prepared cookie sheets. Place sliced almonds on top of
each.
Bake for 10 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from cookie
sheets; cool completely on a wire rack.
