SPICY APPLE BARS II
(Yield: 2 dozen)

1¼ cups self-rising flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
¼ teaspoon ground cloves
¾ cup butter or margarine, softened
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 cup rolled oats
1 cup chopped pecans
2 cups diced apples
Confectioners’ sugar

In a small bowl, combine flour and spices; set aside.

Preheat oven to 375°F.  Spray a 13x9-inch baking pan with non-stick vegetable spray.

In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.  Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.  Stir flour mixture into creamed mixture until well blended.  Stir in oats, pecans, and apples.  Spoon into prepared baking pan; smooth the top.

Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until a tester inserted in the center comes out clean.  Cool in pan on a wire rack.  Dust with confectioners’ sugar.  Cut into bars.
