SPICY
APPLE BARS II
(Yield: 2 dozen)
1¼ cups self-rising flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
¼ teaspoon ground cloves
¾ cup butter or margarine, softened
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 cup rolled oats
1 cup chopped pecans
2 cups diced apples
Confectioners’ sugar
In a small bowl, combine flour and spices; set aside.
Preheat oven to 375°F. Spray a 13x9-inch baking pan with
non-stick vegetable spray.
In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until light
and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Stir flour mixture into creamed mixture until well blended. Stir
in oats, pecans, and apples. Spoon into prepared baking pan; smooth
the top.
Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until a tester inserted in the center comes
out clean. Cool in pan on a wire rack. Dust with confectioners’
sugar. Cut into bars.
