SUNFLOWER
COOKIES
(Yield: 3 dozen)
1½ cups whole wheat flour
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
¼ cup butter or margarine, softened
¾ cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 eggs, lightly beaten
2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup semisweet chocolate morsels
1 3-ounce package sunflower seeds
¼ cup chopped nuts
In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
Preheat oven to 375°F. Spray cookie sheets with non-stick
vegetable spray.
In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until light
and fluffy. Add eggs, milk, and vanilla, beating until well blended.
Stir in flour mixture until well blended. Stir in chocolate morsels,
sunflower seeds, and nuts. Drop by teaspoonfuls, 2-inches apart,
onto prepared cookie sheets.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until firm. Remove from cookie sheets;
cool on a wire rack.
