SWEET
AND SPICY PEPPERNUTS
(Yield: 6 cups)
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
¼ cup butter or margarine, softened
1¾ cups self-rising flour
¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon ground cloves
¼ teaspoon ground ginger
¼ teaspoon white pepper
1 egg
In a large mixing bowl, combine all ingredients; knead until mixture
holds together (1 teaspoon water may be necessary, if the mixture is crumbly).
Shape into a ball.
Preheat oven to 375°F.
For each cookie, pinch off 1/8 teaspoon dough. Form into a
ball. Place, 1-inch apart, on UNGREASED cookie sheets.
Bake for 7 minutes or until lightly browned. Let cool on cookie
sheets.
