THE
BEST BROWNIES
(Yield: 12 servings)
½ cup self-rising flour
½ cup cocoa powder
2 egg whites
1 egg
¾ cup sugar
6 tablespoons applesauce
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1½ teaspoons vanilla extract
1 tablespoon chopped walnuts
Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray an 8x8-inch
baking pan with non-stick vegetable spray.
In a medium bowl, combine flour and cocoa powder.
In a large mixing bowl, combine egg whites,
egg, sugar, applesauce, oil, and vanilla; whisk until well blended.
Stir in flour mixture until just blended. Pour into prepared baking
pan; sprinkle with walnuts.
Bake for 25 minutes or until a tester inserted
in the center comes out clean. Cool in pan on a wire rack.
Cut into squares.
