Forever~ Chapter 20

"Brian," he heard a familiar female voice say softly. He pulled himself away from Jessica and looked towards the door to see his mother standing there with a smile on her face. "Sorry to interrupt," she said as she walked towards the couple.
"Hi, Mom," he said as his face turned the same shade of crimson as Jessica's. Slowly his face returned to its normal color and he hugged Jessica close to him.
"Mom," he began. "This is my girlfriend, Jessica Simpson. Jess, honey, this is my mom."
"Hi, Mrs. Littrell," Jessica said, still looking embarassed.
"You can call me Jackie and you don't have to be embarassed," she said with a smile. "If it had been any other girl, I probably would have been mad, but Brian's told me so much about you, and I haven't seen him smile like that in a long time. You've done wonders for him."
"I try, ma'am," she said as her face returned to its normal color. "I'm gonna go now, Bri, so you can visit with your mom."
"Oh, you don't have to leave," Jackie insisted. "I was looking forward to getting to know you."
Brian laughed. "There'll be plenty of time for that later. Mom. Now let the poor girl go get some sleep. If I know her very well, she didn't get much sleep last night." He looked up at her expectantly.
"You know me too well," she laughed. "But I need to go check on Nicky and see if he's talked to my friend yet. Knowing him he's probably already proposed and knowing her she was probably so star-struck that she accepted," she said with a laugh.
"Why's Nick talking to your friend?" Brian asked. Jessica quickly explained the plan for Vanessa to visit her for a couple of weeks.
"I think that's a great idea," he replied.
"Thanks, but I've really gotta go, honey. I love you and I'm so glad you're okay." She leaned down to give him a short kiss and he saw that her eyes were brimming with tears. She wanted to tell him exactly how she felt, but she felt uncomfortable doing so with his mom standing right there.
"You don't have to say anything," he whispered. "Don't ruin it with words. I know exactly what you mean." Jackie watched as he kissed her and Jessica then walked out of the room, leaving her and her son alone.

Meanwhile...
Nick was nervous about calling Vanessa who had just paged Jessica. However, he had promised her that he would so he picked up the phone and slowly dialed the number. Vanessa picked up after the first ring.
"Hey, Jess! Oh my gosh! I'm so excited about coming to see you. I'm sorry abour Brian though. He sounds like a great guy and I can't wait to meet him and the rest of the guys." She paused to take a breath and Nick jumped in.
"Or we could just meet now," he suggested. "My name's Nick Carter. Yours?"
"Oh my gosh, Nick. I thought you were Jessica. Sorry," she apologized. "My name's Vanessa Jackson; I'm Jessica's friend."
"Yeah, I kinda guessed that," he said with a laugh. "Jess has told me a lot about you."
"Only the good stuff, I hope," she laughed.
"Good stuff?" he asked. "What good stuff? Aren't you the one who was a hooker and got arrested?"
"Oh yeah, baby that's me. Just stick with me and I'll show you stuff you've never seen before," she teased.
"Oh, and how much do you charge?" he teased right back.
"For you, sweet thing, nothing, if you do it the way I like it."
"And if I don't know how then I'm sure you can teach me," he laughed. He looked over and noticed Kevin looking at him strangely.
"Sorry to change the subject, but Gramps is looking at me as if I have some kind of disease," Nick whispered.
"You've got to be talking about Kevin," she laughed.
"You'd be right," he answered. "But seriously, I shouls probably get your flight arrangements and get off here before AJ thinks I'm talking to a real hooker and asks me to get him one, too." She gave Nick her information and he wrote it down on a piece of paper which he later gave to Jessica.
"I can't wait to meet you, Nick. Jess says we have a lot in common," Vanessa said.
"Good," Nick replied. "Then we'll have to do something together. Oh here comes Frick's dad. I've gotta go, Nessa. I'll see you at the airport tomorrow."
"Bye, Nick," she said before reluctantly hanging up. 'I owe Jess big time for this one,' she thought to herself.
'I owe Jess big time for this one,' Nick thought to himself as he hung up the phone. After he put the phone down, he turned his attention to Mr. Littrell. A few minuted later, Jessica joined them in the waiting room.
"How is he?" Kevin asked as she sat down next to Nick.
"He's doing great," she replied with a dazed look on her face.
"Somebody's in love,"AJ sang as he stretched out on a couch.
"Harold," Nick began addressing Mr. Littrell. "Allow me to introduce our son's amazing and beautiful girl, Jessica Simpson. Jess, this is Brian's dad."
"How come I didn't get an eloquent introduction?" Harold asked with a laugh. "I'm very pleased to finally meet you. Brian's told me a lot about you and I think it's wondreful that you can make him so happy."
"Thank you, sir," Jessica replied shyly. "You can go back and see him now. Your wife is back there with him now."
"Thank you. I'll be back in a few minutes," he said as he left for Brian's room.
