| Forever~ Chapter 25 "Frack, you've only known her for 3 weeks! How can you possibly know that she's the one?" Brian raised his voice. When they noticed that people where staring, Nick lowered his voice and spoke. "Brian, that's not fair. You fell in love with Jessica fast and you knew right away that she was the one," Nick reasoned. "You're right," Brian realized. "Sorry, Frack. You're right; that wasn't fair of me." "That's okay," Nick said with a laugh. "I'll forgive you if you'll let me ask you this one question: when are you gonna ask Jess to marry you?" "Soon," Brian answered with a smile. "When we go to Texas for her parents' 25th anniversary, I'm gonna speak to her father about it. But I probably won't ask her until Christmas." "I'm going to propose at the anniversary party," Nick said with a sly smile. "I've talked to her parents on the phone and they support us. If she sayd yes I want you to be my best man, Frick. Will you do it?" "Yeah, of course, little bro. I just can't believe you're getting married before me. Have you told the rest of the guys?" "No," Nick said without hesitation. "You know I always come to you first." "You wanna see the ring?" Brian asked as he reached into his pocket. "You've already gotten the ring?" Nick asked in amazement as he stared down at the ring. It was gold with a diamond in the shape of a cross. There was an inscription which read :Forever and Always I promise. "So what are you waiting for, Frick?" Nick asked. "Propose when I do and we'll have a double wedding." "Because I promised my parents that I wouldn't do anything until Christmas. Besides, I don't think it's the right time to propose. we're getting ready to go back on tour soon and I think it would be better if I wait." "I understand," Nick said as if he really did. Brian didn't tell Jessica about Nick's plans only because Nick begged him not to. He hated to keep it a secret from her but he knew she would find out when they made the trip to Texas. A month later, just one week before their tour was to resume, the BSB, Jessica, and Vanessa caught a flight to Texas for Mr. and Mrs. Simpson's 25th wedding anniversary. Jessica looked at Nick as he took Vanessa's hand and led her outside, away from the party. She gave Brian a questioning look and he nodded his head. She stared at him in amazment. "I thought you were going to talk him out of it," she whispered as he pulled her on the dance floor. "I tried but he's doing the right thing. He's in love with her and he's not gonna give up until he marries her." "But he's only known her for 2 months," Jessica reasoned. "And I've known you for 3," Brian replied. "But I would marry you in a heartbeat if I thought it was the right time for us. Don't tell me you don't believe in soulmates, Jess. You are mine just like Vanessa is Nick's. Nick just isn't a patient person." Jessica finally admitted that he was right. A few minutes later, Nick and Vanessa reappeared, all smiles. They announced their engagment and received a warm round of applause and congratulations. Jessica hugged them warmly, but she couldn't shake her feelings of jealousy. "Later, while everyone else was getting ready to go out to eat to celebrate, Jessica took her little nieces upstairs to watch a movie. A few minutes later Brian walked in the room to see the kids lying on the floor and Jessica curled up on the couch by herself. "Aren't you coming to eat?" he asked as he sat down beside her. "No, the kids want to stay here and watch Lady and the Tramp," she replied. "Besides, I'm not really in the mood to go, but you go on." "No, he said firmly. "I'll stay with you." He yelled down the stairs and told Nick that he and Jessica were staying home and then returned to her on the couch. He could tell she was upset and he had a pretty good idea why. "This is the night, the most beautiful night, and we call it a 'bella notte'." She laughed as he sang along with the Italian chef in the movie. He laughed, too, as he kissed her on the forehead. Then his expression turned serious. "Are you mad at me?" he asked as he saw himself in her sparking eyes. "Mad?" she looked at him quizzically. "Because you're not getting married before Vanessa," he supplied. "Not your fault," she said, not completely convincing him or herself. "I could have proposed," he said seriously. She said nothing but just looked at him wistfully. "But it wouldn't have been the right time. I know you're the one I want to marry, but I don't think we're ready yet." Jessica cried as she nodded her head in agreement, though it wasn't what she wanted to hear. "I love you," she whispered. "I just can't wait for things to get back to normal." ~*Home*~ ~*Chapter 26*~ ~*Index*~ ~*Fan Fiction*~ |
