Closely Knit Family
Leonardo DiCaprio has always been close to his family. They have helped him manage his career, encouraging him to follow his dreams. With worldwide celebrity stardom, some celebrities lose their roots, but DiCaprio says his family keep him grounded.

Everywhere he goes, whether it is film festivals, or premieres, DiCaprio brings along members of his family. At the Man in the Iron Mask premiere in Paris, he brought a long his father, mother and his grandmother as well.

His PARENTS
DiCaprio's parent's George and Irmelin describe themselves as 'hippies'. "Whatever I did would be something they'd done, " Leo says, "I mean, my dad would welcome it if I got a nose ring." The two separated when Leo was just one year old but never got divorced. They raised Leo in the poor side of Hollywood. The both quit their jobs to help Leo's career take off

- Leonardo DiCaprio lived with his mother in a three-bedroom house close to where he grew up until he was 22. After he moved moved into a small bungalow bachelor pad in Santa Monica he admits he misses somethings: "It's a weird adjustment (living alone) because you don't realize how much you really miss Mumsie until she's not there."
- All his mother cares about his Leo's well being, "I can't see him as other people do. All I'm concerned about is his health--he should sleep more, exercise more, eat better--that's the litany. The rest, I wouldn't care if he gave it up tomorrow."

get something on his ribs, " DiCaprio's eating habits when his Grandmother is in town? "He'd pass up any hamburger
for my apple streusel cake," she promises "And for my

"The last thing I want to do is turn into a Hollywood jerk, I don't think I'll strive for money or success and end up greedy or big-headed. That only leads to unhappiness. I'd feel really alienated if my mother or my dad or my friends started kissing my ass."
