Ron's life seemed to include, amongst other things, one project after another. His career began while in the Canadian Armed Forces and continued through to IBM, DeHaviland, Bombardier and Trans Canada Pipe Lines. He worked on developing the STOL airplane, the first successful sea-worthy hydrofoil and developing a locomotive assembly line for Bombardier. His trains (as he liked to call them), were eventually sold all around the world including a multi-million dollar package for the City of New York. It should be noted that he was the first non French speaking director of Bombardier. While working at his final position with Trans Canada Pipelines he was beginning his first university course at the University of Montreal just before he passed away. The chosen field would have been his one and only engineering degree.
