Films I have seen which have some sort of homo content:

Les roseaux sauvages (1994)
Besides the first movie I remember seeing that had a homosexual character, it is also one of the best because is seems real. The homo scene is so small, but it gave me good ideas haha. ˇ Director: André Téchiné ˇ Nation: France

Voor een verloren soldaat (1992)
During the allied liberation of the Netherlands in 1945, a Canadian soldier and a 12 year old boy meet, become friends, then have a love affair. Not the normal film, and it is well made and not vulgar. ˇ Director: Roeland Kerbosch ˇ Nation: Netherlands

Pensionat Oskar (1995)
Very funny film about a man who takes his family on holiday to Gotland where he meets a male who he grows fast passions for. ˇ Director: Susanne Bier ˇ Nation: Icky Sweden

Presque rien (2000)
There must be hundreds of French films about teenagers falling in love whilst on summer hols.. this is nothing unusual from the others, which is still a compliment. Director: Sébastien Lifshitz ˇ Nation: France and Belgium

Desperate bekjentskaper (1998)
Two fellows think an institution is not the best for their mutual friend, so they unite to break him out. The unusual situation leads to the three having open conversations and confessions, where they learn to forget the conventional ideas of what is masculine and be liberated. ˇ Director: Svend Wam (Svend Olaf Wamnes Akstuft) ˇ Nation: Norway

Priest (1994)
This is about a homo priest who has the occasional one night stand, then is caught and has to suffer backlash from his parishioners. His religion vs. sexual needs theological struggle adds depth to the film. ˇ Director: Antonia Bird ˇ Nation: United Kingdom

La Cage aux Folles (1978)
One of the funniest movies ever, La Cage aux Folles is about two Saint-Tropez men who are longtime lovers and own a homo nightclub, but suddenly have to hide their true selves when their son brings home his conservative parents-to-be. ˇ Director: Edouard Molinaro ˇ Nation: France

The Birdcage (1996)
This is an English remake of La Cage aux Folles, and it is almost the exact same as the French film. ˇ Director: Mike Nichols ˇ Nation: United States

Krámpack (2000)
These two Spanish boys have a summer hols on the beach (another one!) and one of them falls in love with the other one, but he wants to sleep with some girls, so the first one makes a move on an older homo man haha. ˇ Director: Cesc Gay ˇ Nation: Spain

Le Placard (2001)
The most boring man ever is going to be fired from his job, so his neighbour suggests he make a rumour that he's homo, so his work won't fire him for being afraid of appearing to sexual discriminate. Very amusing film! ˇ Director: Francis Veber ˇ Nation: France

Maurice (1987)
This is a great film, even if Hugh Grant (I don't know what it is.. there's something that makes me want to hit him hehe) is one of the actors. It comes from E.M. Forster's novel, but it wasn't published until after his death because he would have been attacked if it came out while he was living. ˇ Director: James Ivory ˇ Nation: United Kingdom

Philadelphia (1993)
I guess everyone knows this film anyhow. It is the most famous film ever about a homosexual man, right? ˇ Director: Jonathan Demme ˇ Nation: United States

The Sum Of Us (1994)
To me, the nicest thing about this nice film is how the dad is fully comfortable with his son being homosexual. There are dads like this (including mine), but in films you almost just see dads who reject their homosexual kids. It is good people can see an example of one who doesn't. ˇ Director: Geoff Burton and Kevin Dowling ˇ Nation: Australia

Faustrecht der Freiheit (1975)
It is the classic story of no one special who wins the lottery, then has people wanting to be his good friend and even lover, as long as they can take some of the wealth. This time he happens to be homo. ˇ Director: Rainer Werner Fassbinder ˇ Nation: Germany

Paragraph 175 (1999)
This is a good/sad documentary about the homosexuals that were hurt from the Nazi holocaust. Less than a year after this was released, the German gouvernment made a formal apology for the great harm done by Nazi regime to homosexuals. ˇ Director: Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman ˇ Nation: UK, US, and Germany

(Top) Heinz Dörmer in 1931 with his lover Werner Henneberg, who was killed in a death camp. (Bottom) Heinz in 2000. He spent almost 10 years in prisons and camps.

Venner for altid (1987)
Most of this film is OK, but the ending is so stupid that it ruined the whole film, to me. It's still not a bad film. Just skip the last 15 minutes if you ever see it! ˇ Director: Stefan Henszelman ˇ Nation: Denmark

Head On (1998)
Feeling outside his homophobic community and family, a young Australian Greek goes wild and gets lost in drugs and random sex. I feel bad watching it, so I guess they did a good job with the film if I'm affected, right? ˇ Director: Ana Kokkinos ˇ Nation: Australia

Fucking Ĺmĺl (1998)
Here's the tale of Elin and Agnes in the little town Ĺmĺl and how they become a couple. In Scandinavia, this was a bigger film than even Titanic, and it is the all time biggest film ever in Sweden. ˇ Director: Lukas Moodysson ˇ Nation: Sweden

Beautiful Thing (1996)
This is more popular than I would think! I looked to find a picture from this film to put here, and I found dozens of sites all about this film, and it inspires mailing lists and friend groups. That's impressive! Good job, filmmakers. I never understand how come its age limit in Norway is 15. Grr! ˇ Director: Hettie MacDonald ˇ Nation: United Kingdom

Ma vie en rose (1997)
This is called a homo film, but I disagree. The film's boy wishes for to be a girl. I know two males who like to be feminine and neither are homos. Most homos I know have no interest in being feminine, including me. This is just a film about someone different who might be anything. It's a good good film! ˇ Director: Alain Berliner ˇ Nation: France

Wilde (1997)
Nice film about Oscar Wilde. ˇ Director: Brian Gilbert ˇ Nation: United Kingdom

Beefcake (1999)
In America a photographer named Bob made a business where he took erotic pictures of muscle men and published them in magazines that were more about the erotic pictures than the subject of muscle building. That is what they had to do then, and this film makes it seem amusing instead of just complaining about how it was. ˇ Director: Thom Fitzgerald ˇ Nation: Canada and United Kingdom

Chuck And Buck (2000)
This is the oddest film I've ever seen. You would have to see it to understand. Odd film.. odd film.. good character work! ˇ Director: Miguel Arteta ˇ Nation: United States

Satyricon (1969)
One of the most beautiful films to look at! It's about a man called Encolpius who has a bizarre life in which he experiences the extremes of ancient Rome. It is an amazing dreamworld, and I would love to have hours and hours of sex with Encolpius. He's gorgeous! ˇ Director: Federico Fellini ˇ Nation: Italy

American Beauty (1999)
Parents, teach children to be comfortable with whatever sexual preferences develop in them or they'll grow up to be cruel, militarialistic, abusive monsters who murder their cute neighbours. Ha! ˇ Director: Sam Mendes ˇ Nation: United States

Du er ikke alene (1978)
Two males meet at a boarding school and become close friends and after a while also have a positive sexual relationship. The name of the film means "You are not alone." It is one of the first films I know of to tell about homos without being negative. It's a "heartwarming" film. ˇ Director: Ernst Johansen and Lasse Nielsen ˇ Nation: Denmark

F. est un salaud (1998)
This sad film is about a young Züricher called Beni who falls in love with Fögi, singer of a local band and drug addict, with whom Beni has great sensual fucking. The band breaks up and Fögi worsens his drug use and becomes suicidal, pulling Beni down with him. The fucking scenes are incredible. ˇ Director: Marcel Gisler ˇ Nation: Switzerland
