What is this?
On January 5th, 2000, Steve Marleau from the Discovery Channel came to Marc Garneau C. I. to film the MSS Project Team working on the beginning steps of the project. This is the first of multiple shoots to be taken place, all of which will air on the Discovery Channel.
What did the Team do?
The Project Team simply took turns in performing the tasks that they have been doing over the last year for the camera.
What is it for?
The Discovery Channel is going to air the progress that the Project Team makes, over a period of time. This is in preparation for the launch of the Canadian component of the International Space Station.
Why are the students doing this?!?!?!
Let's face it, technology will be the way of the future! Students working on the project are learning skills that will last them the rest of their lives. From welding to shop procedures, the students will not only use the knowledge that they gain in further education, but in their every day lives.
How are they learning this?
Every day, students come in after school and work on the project. They do everything from practising, which is very important, to finishing the hundreds of small tasks needed to complete the project. Every thing ends with learning. It's really that simple; the MSS project is not only something fun to do, but a learning experience. It takes practice to complete each step, and it takes knowledge of how everything works. This is how the students learn
through and for themselves!
