A Few Flashbacks...Ahhhh!

Boogaarts

Here it is, the wonderful Boogaarts Supermarket where I worked from July of 1997 to August of 1998.  It has since been closed down, and the building sits namelessly on the outskirts of downtown Beloit.  Guess they just couldn't survive without me...anyway, I can't honestly say I greatly enjoyed working there but it taught me a lot about the working world and humanity in general.  I was originally a cashier but as the place slowly fell apart more responsibility fell on the shoulders of the competent part-timers, so we became stockers, facers, video clerks, you name it.

Ahhhh

I can't believe I'm actually putting this picture on here.  Lovely uniform huh.  Eventually we lost the shirts and ties and even the aprons, which were all replaced by blue polos, thank God.  If I look a little befuddled, it's because this was taken on one of the first few days I worked there, as I don't even have my nifty nametag yet.  Eventually the likes of me, Diana, and Cheyenne came ro rule the place with an iron fist (right guys?).

the truck

This is my 1986 Ford Ranger, affectionately nicknamed the Deathmobile since everyone thought someday I would nail a little kid with it (50 points!  never happened though).  If it looks like it's owned by a redneck pimp that's the fault of the former owner, who jacked it up and gave it the roll bar, fog lights, and even a siren!  As I don't have it here in Lawrence, now my dad uses it as his hunting wagon.

pitch players

Thought I'd give these last two more space since they're just so cool. Above is the Pitch Playing Group (later to be known as the Crack Club, with some membership changes) from College Algebra my junior year (we had little else to do in the week after the final).  From left--Erin, Amy, yours truly, and Dave.  Diana, behind the camera, was also part of the group.  Below...well, what can I say.  My fabulous history teacher Mr. Pete Caldwell (on lert, hopefully you could figure that out) would probably kill me if he knew I was putting this on the web.  I just can't resist.  It's a little hard to tell because of the flash but standing between us is, of course, Dick Vitale.  Awesome, baby!

Vitale

Many thanks to Diana for these great pictures.
