Firstly
in your groups of 4 you
will need to decide what role you are going to play. You can choose from
the following:
Chemist |
Engineer |
Biologist |
Politician |
Each role requires you
to investigate certain aspects of acid rain, and the effect that it has
on environment and society. These are the specific questions that you will need to answer
in your report. Each response should be around 300 words.
The Chemist
- What are acids
and bases?
- How do we measure
if a substance is an acid or a base?
- What is acid rain
and how is it formed?
- Where do the
chemicals come from that cause acid rain?
- What
is the pH of normal rain? When does acid rain become dangerous?
The engineer
- What are
the effects of acid rain on buildings and architecture?
- What are
some examples of these effects?
- How might you
change the way you construct buildings so that things may last
longer?
- How much money
does it cost to repair damages caused by acid rain?
The
Biologist
- What is the effect
of acid rain on plant life?
- What is the effect
of acid rain on water systems?
- How might acid
rain effect the lives of animals and humans?
- What are some
examples where living things have been effected by acid rain?
The
Politician
- Write a speech
that addresses the environmental issues of acid rain. State some
damage caused by acid rain that is apparent in your local area and
explain what you and your political party intend to do about
preventing any further damage. Also include advice for your
community on how they can help prevent acid rain.
