ACCOLADES & ACHIEVEMENTS

This page is dedicated to all those people who have inspired and encouraged me to write, write and write some more.  I give thanks to my family for always putting up with my absentmindedness during poetry "rushes" and of course to all those friends who have cajoled, bullied and pestered me to try to get published.  There are too many people to mention and I don't want to miss anyone out but you all know who you are - and I thank you.
THE RIVER SPEAKS

This poem was written August 2000 during my stay with my parents.  We went to New Lanark and walked along the Falls of The Clyde.  What a spectacular place this is.  I really felt at one with nature here and was very moved to wrtite about the River Clyde and it's purpose when the Mill at New Lanark was in it's heyday.  It is worth a visit if you are ever in that area and if not you may want to read about it on Electric Scotland.  I have a link to this site in my Links page.

ANOTHER VISIT

This poem was written May 2000 and actually did happen.  It relates to an event that is still unexplained and I can only say that I believe that there is more to our lives and world than we know about.  It is a ghost story with a difference.

DARK COFFEE

This poem was written July 2000 and is really more about relationships than coffee.  However, as with all poetry, it is whatever the reader wishes it to be.  It was entered into the Hilton House Poetry competition August 2000 and received a certificate of commendation.

This poem is to be published as part of the competition anthology

BETTER OFF OUT

This poem was written September 2000 after having received a long political memo regarding Britain and the European community.  I thought I would try my hand at second attempt of writing a rondeau, and I ampleased to say that this one has also been chosen by Anchor Books to be published.
