Tears
© Alicia, Nov. 7 2002
we walk away from people
when we feel the need to cry
as if it's something shameful
we leave the table
we hide our red eyes
even though we want people to see inside;
we cry less when we don't hide it
weeping shows a softer side
pain is universal in understanding
feelings are so often lauded
acknowledging that we feel is more surprising
tears can't be abandoned and remain undamaged
tears are beautiful when they don't mean the end
it doesn't have to be tragic
we all cry, we all live and die
salty eyes don't start a panic
emotions unignored can be controlled
don't force back the tears out of fear
we don't need to hide it when we weep
even Jesus knew how to cry
