Formal Up-Do

Step 1: Once you have your base, pick out a base color for your hair. Im choosing a dark brown. Make your outline. I chose to side sweep my bangs, and have a bun on top of her ahir. Thsi is what it looks like:

Step 2: Now taking your Burn tool, on size 1, Exposure 70. Make your dark strands, and try to make your bang stick out more, and all your other strands should make your hair look like it is pulled back:

Step 3: Now for the highlights. Now you are going to use your dodge tool,( I used size 1, exposure 50 on highlight) Make highlights in between your dark ones. Again, follow the way your hair is drawn, to make it look more realistic.

Step 4: Now we are going to shade the hair to make shadows.Take your burn tool, and this time on size 5, or a bigger size depending on the size of your doll, make shadows on her part, sides, and any where the light would generally not hit.

Step 5: And now for the dodge tool, again. This time, I used the tool on size 5, highlight exposure 25. Now go over where you didnt shadow, and where the light would hit. This makes your strands stand out more. If your shading looks to harsh, you can go over it with the blue tool (on size 1, exposure 20 for me).

Now we are done, and I think she looks fantastic! My Prom Doll below was inspiration for this tut, so this is my end product:
