---------------------------------------------------------------------
" Why Did You Have To Get Me Pregnant NOW?!?!?! "
" Whoa! " Yamcha exclaimed, becoming quite frightful of his wife's expression and taking a step or two back.
Everyone else on Heavan's Platform gave the couple blank looks, including the newly appointed Kamisama and the lavendar-haired boy from the future. The general concensus of thought was a mild, yeah, we kinda noticed that, Sarro... you're point?
It was quite noticeable that Sarro was pregnant, considering the Saiyan metabolism would not allow her sizeable belly to be accounted to food.
Sarro ran her fingers through her hair and moaned, " No no no!! This can't be happening! Not already! I don't believe this! Argh! "
" Um... Sarro? " Gokuu questioned, he being the only one (a) brave enough and (b) caring enough to approach the Saiyan woman. " What's the matter? "
MORON! she felt like screaming. He knew! He had to!
But Sarro did not say this.
Without turning to face him she muttered, " I can't help you fight Cell. "
Gokuu gave a wide grin. " That's okay! We'll do okay without you! You're retired anyway! "
Sarro blinked back tears. The last thing she wanted to do was watch Son Gokuu die, and now she was going to be forced to.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
True to the original timeline, and Sarro's long-ago plans of as-little-intrusion-as-possible, Son Gokuu died in the battle with Cell, only for the ultimate creation of Dr. Gero to be defeated by Son Gohan after the boy reached Super Saiyajin level two.
Each person had reacted in their own way, Sarro of course being the first to get over it. He'd be back in seven years anyway. She'd just overreacted. Feeling her tender jaw she thought wryly, though not as much as Katera
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Katera stared down at the ground, her fists clenched and tears coming to her eyes. Cell was defeated, yet she couldn't find any joy in that.
" Katera? " Sarro tentatively asked.
Katera whirled around and punched Sarro hard on the jaw, throwing her to the ground. " I thought no one could die! Gokuu, Trunks, what about them?! How could you let them die?! "
Sarro pushed herself onto her hands and knees but did not get up. She took a long time in answering, trying to compose herself long enough to answer. Finally she softly whispered, " This was meant to be. "
" Oh, it was meant to be, " Katera sneered, " How nice. "
Sarro finally stood. She kept her back to the warriors and swiped at her own tears. " I suggest you get moving. You've got Dragonballs to gather and a wish to make. "
" B... But I thought that we couldn't use the Dragonballs? " Kuririn asked.
Sarro walked away without answering his question.
" Come on, " Piccolo said, " We obviously have been given permission. "
" Permission, " Vejiita grumbled angrilly.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Sarro hefted the small article of clothing. It seemed too light to her. But she mused that her definition of light differed greatly from the norm. She dropped it on the scale and noted its weight. Fifty pounds. It would do, for now at least.
She picked it up again fingering the fabric. It felt so thin, and was so flexible for something of its weight. When she had approached Bulma with her proposition she hadn't been certain it could be done. Sarro smiled, as always Bulma had come through. She looked forward to getting her own super flexible weighted clothing soon. It would look just like her own suit, only it would weigh about 58 000 pounds. She was even talking about designing something that would allow one to switch between weights. Sarro was excited at the prospect. After all she didn't want to get weak while she lived in Earth's light gravity.
And just because she was retired didn't mean she wanted to be weak. Sarro shook her head, her now shorter hair brushing against her sholders. She was getting side tracked, she had work to do.
Her daughter's training would start today.
Sarro padded down the hallway and into Kyande's room. Kyande looked up and cooed happily. Such a pleasant, happy baby. Not for the first time, Sarro felt relief for the human blood in Kyande. Saiyajin could be such hellions. She should know, she'd been one.
Sarro picked her baby up and held her close for a few seconds before dressing her in the weighted clothing. She gently wrestled Kyande's favorite toy from her and put it on one side of the room. She then placed Kyande on the other.
Sitting down Sarro watched as Kyande struggled to sit up. Her little face was twisted into an expression of confusion. Sarro could tell that her little daughter was having trouble figuring out why she was suddenly having so much trouble moving.
Finally she sat up and stared at her toy. She held her arms out towards it and whimpered pleadingly.
Sarro shook her head, " No honey. You've got to get it yourself. "
Tears appeared to joing the whimpers, but Sarro was unrelenting. She simply gave Kyande a supportive smile. Kyande sniffed and her tail began to swish back and forth in frustration.
As Sarro watched Kyande struggle forward she wondered if she was starting the training too soon. Kyande hadn't even learned to walk yet. Crawling was still her main mode of transportation.
Sarro closed her eyes and leaned back. No, this was a good time to start. The way this Earth was a magnent for trouble she'd need the strength.
Her mind wandered into the past. So many things had happened since her future self had approached her. Her mind drifted back to the most recent battle; the battle with Cell. She'd stayed out of that fight, and had merely observed. It had nothing to do with cowardice, or even her attempts at retirement. Rather it was that she was more than halfway through her pregnancy. She didn't want to risk her baby's life. Sarro smiled; not to mention a pregnant woman, Saiyajin or no, probably wouldn't be much help in a battle. More of a hinderance, and she would hate to be a hinderance.
The fight had been won, although not without its causalties. Sarro's smile disappeared. She'd known Son Gokuu was going to die, but still...once it had happened... She missed him terribly, he'd been a good friend, and truly the universe's greatest fighter. It saddened her to think she wouldn't see for another seven years.
Unless.... hmmm... maybe if she sweet talked Dende she could arrange a visit with Son Gokuu. That would be interesting.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Kyande grew into a strong, impetuous girl. Sarro and Yamcha often argued over who she REALLY took after. In the end Pouar proclaimed that the girl was a mix of the two of them, which was far more scary. Sarro and Yamcha were inclined to agree.
Sarro had decided to home-school her daughter as Chichi had with Gohan during her formative years, allowing Sarro to teach her more than the usual curriculum...
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Yamcha leaned back on his chair and playfully responded, " Yeah, humans are soooo weak and frail. So you've gotta be careful. "
Sarro wiped the last of the dishes and toweled off her hands, " There are different kinds of strength. One does not have to have a sentou-ryoku of 34 500 000 to be considered strong. "
She moved to stand beside her husband and looked down at him, " You're human and your not weak, " her voice turned playful, " unless of course your comparing yourself to a Saiyajin. "
This said she kicked the chair leg closest to her. Yamcha 'urked' as he and the chair clattered to the floor. Sarro turned back to Kyande, " You see what I mean. At full strength I would have shattered the chair and hurt more than your Tousan's pride. But since I carefully controlled my power- "
Sarro's speech was interupted as Yamcha pulled her feet out from under her. Caught unprepared Sarro crashed to the ground. She pushed herself up onto her elbows and mock glared at Yamcha.
" Oh look the weak human has felled the mighty Saiyajin, " he laughed.
" You think so? " Sarro asked before tackling him. Kyande decided that the lecture of the day was over and went off to find a snack.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
But perhaps the most fun Sarro had, was teaching Kyande about the past, and what her daughter could learn from it.
[Note from Konekochan, which accompanied the following scene, I stuck it in here, cuz I thot it wuz cute! Sarro's daughter has a name!!! It's Kyande. It stands for candy.]
---------------------------------------------------------------------
" Yes, thank you. That'll be most helpful, Son Gohan. "
Kyande came into the kitchen to find her mom on the phone. Sarro motioned for Kyande to sit down as she finished up her conversation.
" Yes, that sounds like a good idea. But I'm afraid I've got to go. Thank you again. Bye. "
Sarro hung up the phone and sat across from her daughter. Kyande looked at her mother for a couple of seconds before launching into a stream of questions,
" Was that Gohansan? What did he want? What are we doing today? A story? I like stories. What kind of story? Can I go out and play after we're done? "
Sarro laughed, " One question at a time. Yes, that was Son Gohan and I just called him to get some information. "
" What kindof information? "
" You'll find out soon enough. And yes, we are going to have a story. "
" Fairy tale? " Kyande asked hopefully.
Sarro nodded, " And I have a little task for you after the story, "
anticapating a new stream of questions Sarro held up her hand,
" After the story. "
Sarro cleared her throat and began her tale, " Once upon a time there was a prince- "
" Was he a handsome prince? " Kyande asked.
Sarro got a look on her face as she clearly debated on how to answer that. Finally she simply responded, " He was a prince. A warrior prince. He came to Earth because he had heard about the dragonballs and decided to wish for imortality. He was also going to destroy all life on the earth and sell it. "
" That wasn't very nice. "
" No, " Sarro agreed, " It wasn't. But don't worry there was a... valient warrior on earth. The prince and the valient warrior fought for the fate of the Earth. In the end the prince decided that he was just going to blow up the Earth. But the valient warrior was able to overpower him. Angry the warrior prince transformed into a huge monster and pounded on the valient warrior. The transformation was.... um.... reversed, " Sarro paused as though she wasn't sure if that was the word she wanted. Finally she just shrugged and continued, " The valient warriors son then beat on the prince.
" Now before I continue what do you think is going to happen? "
Kyande thought for a moment before exclaiming, " The valient warrior's son kills the prince and good triumphs over evil! "
Sarro smiled, " You think so huh? "
" Um... well yeah. That's what always happens, right? "
" Not in this case. The valient warrior spares the prince's life and he escapes, vowing revenge. "
" Well that was stupid, " Kyande complained, " Now he'll just come back. "
" The prince went off to another land in search of different dragonballs.
This was a land with blue grass, and green people with
pointed ears. "
" Elves? "
Sarro snickered, " Sure, why not. Anyway the prince was forced to team up with the valient warrior to defeat a more powerful foe. The prince died in that battle. He was later wished back with the others who had died. And so began his change. You see Kyande the prince changed and became an ally with the valient warrior. "
" Oh. "
Sarro stood and moved towards the back door. Kyande followed her mom still pondering over the story.
" And now for your task, " Sarro proclaimed, opening the door, " I want you to go and get an egg from Bulma. "
" But we have lots of- "
Sarro gently pushed Kyande out of the house. Just before she closed the door she told Kyande, " Be back before it gets dark. "
Kyande stared at the now closed door confused. She stewed in her confusion
for a couple of seconds before taking off for the Briefs' place.
A knock sound at the door and Bulma stepped out of the kitchen with an, " I'll get it. "
She opened the door and looked down at Kyande. Kyande looked up at her still with the slightly puzzled look on her face.
" Hello Kyande, " Bulma greeted, " Did you come to play with Trunks? "
Kyande shook her head, " No Bulmasan. Mom said I was supposed to get an egg from you. "
Bulma blinked, " Oh. Okay. I'll just go get one. Come on in. "
Kyande stepped into the Briefs home. She looked into the living room and saw Vejiita and Trunks. She gave a little wave to Trunks and then began to stare at Vejiita. Vejiita looked up from his newspaper and gave Kyande a look.
" What? " he asked.
At this moment Bulma came back with the egg, " So you ran out of eggs? "
" No, " Kyande answered, " We have lots. "
Now Bulma was confused, " Then why do you need an egg? "
" I don't know. Mom just said to go get an egg from you, " Kyande explained.
Vejiita gave a snort, " Sarro strikes again. "
Kyande went back to studing Vejiita. Vejiita wondered weither he should be weirded out or annoyed. He choose annoyed.
" You were a prince right? " Kyande asked.
Vejiita growled, " I still am a prince. "
Kyande frowned in confusion, " Then why doesn't anybody listen you? "
" Because they're all traitors, everyone of them, " Vejiita replied.
" Oh, " Kyande thought this over for a couple of seconds. She then asked, " Did you ever, like, try to destroy the Earth? "
Everyone stared at her. There was a stunned silence for a couple of seconds. Kyande stared intently at Vejiita wanting patiently for an answer.
" Well, " Vejiita began, " Yes. "
" Really Dad? " Trunks asked in amazement.
" But that was a long time ago. "
" Yeah! " Kyande was practically jumping up and down with the excitement of her revelation, " And Gokuu at least I think Gokuu was the valient warrior, defeated with you Gohan, "
Vejiita scowled at the mention that particular long ago defeat.
" And you went to the land with the blue grass and the green elves and fought with Gokuu and then you became a good guy!!!! I get it now! "
Kyande promptly ran out of the house, wanting to go tell her mother about her revelation.
" I hate Sarro, " Vejiita mumbled before picking up his newspaper again. Trunks was just confused.
So was Bulma, " Green elves? "
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Jumping ahead a bit, Sarro reflected that it was quite possible that her way with manipulating must've rubbed off on her daughter by the time Kyande was old enough to make a vocational choice in life...
---------------------------------------------------------------------
" A psychologist? " Sarro repeated. Kyande nodded, her eyes shining with excitment. Sarro smiled and quipped, " Goodness knows we could all use one. "
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Sarro frowned as her thoughts turned back to Vejiita. She thought that he'd changed, and yes, he had... but... she failed to see what effects such changes would have on the proud prince. His whole being had been shattered to the very core of what he knew himself to be. She could only know a small fraction of what that felt like. Sarro's short-comings would become all too aparant when Babidi tried to ressurrect Majin Buu.
Sarro had only bothered to remember the time and day when Babidi would appear. Anything else she knew would alter subtly due to Katera's presence. (But not hers. She was RETIRED) Later on, she wished she had paid more attention to that particular chapter of Chikyuu's history.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
" I hate myself Kakarrot, " said Majin Vejiita in the midst of it all.
A lull had come about in their end-everything battle. Gohan and Kaiou-Shin
were off handling Babidi and Dabura. Katera was
presumably with them.
But she wasn't. She had been there throughout the whole thing. (Yeah, like she was going to miss This!) But though the battle was fierce, it filled her with a sadness that tore her apart inside.
Vejiita was her enemy. She wasn't supposed to Identify with him.
" I had a family... and I liked it... " Vejiita admitted, leaning his head back and smiling with an immense sadness, " I was even beginning to like this planet Earth. "
Katera watched on guiltily. They thought she was with Gohan and Kaiou-Shin. Maybe she should have been.
Vejiita suddenly began shouting again, his voice breaking on his words, " I wanted to be that cold-hearted perfect Saiyajin again! I couldn't be that while you surpassed me! I let myself be charmed so that I'd have an excuse! I wanted to fight without consequences again! "
It looked like the battle was about to start again. But if they kept on going, Majin Buu would be reborn and that would be very bad.
So, Katera condemned herself. She couldn't stay silent any longer anyway.
" Vejiita... " she ended up trailing off, what could she say?
" Mm? " Vejiita looked to the side at the sounding of his name. Katera stood and the two Saiyajin stared at each other a moment.
" Katera... " Gokuu said, not sure what to think.
Katera gave him a wistful smile, " Gomen nasai, Gokuusama, " she apologized, then turned back to the other man. " Vejiitaojisama, " she said sincerely, for the very first time, " I know exactly how you feel. "
Vejiita stared. It was all he could do. " Hontoo ni? "
" Yes, " Katera answered softly, " absolutely. "
Sarro wished she could have been there to see that. Gokuu was a lousy storyteller, and simply didn't do it justice. Apparantly Katera had dared to approach Vejiita, and not flinched when he tried attacking her.
They'd exchanged words that Gokuu hadn't been able to articulate properly
from memory. (and neither of the two Saiyajin involved were willing to
talk about it.) The gist of it was, Katera had talked Vejiita out of his
rage by identifying with him, then threatening to hug him. (THAT Gokuu
remembered, and Sarro want to have been there all the more) Suffice to
say, the whole thing had ended with Vejiita sobbing -- sobbing!-- into
Katera's shoulder.
" I hate it here. "
" Yeah, " Katera agreed, " so do I. "
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Sarro leaned her head back and closed her eyes. So many difficult things to live through. So many transitions between life and death. Peace on Chikyuu was stretching. Sarro wondered how much longer before something else happened.
But, Sarro was a startling optimist when she was in a good mood. Sometimes she was downright silly.
Out of the blue, she'd called everyone and invited them over for tea. She did so love having visitors. Katera and Piccolo had refused, but they always did and Sarro dismissed it. It didn't really bother her. They were sticks in the mud and no fun at parties anyway. Neither could carry a conversation in a basket.
Neither could Vejiita, come to think of it. But he was so much fun to pick on, especially when Bulma joined in on it.
You know, after the above memory, Sarro reflected that nothing really about the fight with Buu had changed. Oh, after it all she had checked with Mirai Dende and discovered that the fight with Gokuu and Vejiita continued after that. Hm, funny how circumstance usurped destiny.
Kyande passed by Sarro at that moment and pleaded, " Kaasan, no stories this time. "
Sarro smiled. " We'll see, dear. Go make sure your father's staying out of the cookies like the good girl you are, mm? "
Sarro watched Kyande go and her smile widened. Picking on Kyande was as fun as picking on Vejiita, if not more. She got more of a reaction out of Kyande. Katera and Piccolo may have been sticks in the mud, but Vejiita was a sourpuss. Really, he never laughed anymore.
Granted, any time he had previously had been a thing of worry. For he only laughed when the rest of the world would have been cowering in abject terror, or was, as the case may be. Pff, Saiyajin. Strange creatures. After meeting both Gokuu and Vejiita, Sarro affiliated herself more with Gokuu than Vejiita. Meaning she was human no matter what she'd been born as.
Ding-dong.
Oh, joy. The first of her company had arrived. Time to catch up. What amusing hyjinx had Gokuu been up to? How was Trunks faring as the newly appointed head of Capsule Corporation? Was Bulma pregnant again? (Oh, she knew about that little part of the future. She laughed everytime she thought about Bra being a daddy's girl... oh, she'd have lots of fun with that...)
Sarro gave a contented smile as she headed for the door. Life was good.

[The above is a compliation of scenes pertaining to Kyande and a few other tidbits concerning important plot points. I'm afraid as of yet there are no stories to fill the (rather large) gap between Sagas two and three of DBZL. There used to be two, but one's being rewritten and the other I don't want to post yet because I'm uncertain of some things. (One Year Alone and Training) For now I leave you The Alternate Universe Story which is much more amusing and lighthearted than the ZL mainstream series. Saga Three; Rucuruu will follow that. For now, I am taking a break to write sum Gundam Wing fiction. See you later!]
