Vejiita was laughing.
It was a sound that could make even Gokuu cringe and feel wary.
The Earth shook with the force of the Saiyajin no Oji's ki. He collected it around him in a blazing aura.
Vejiita finished laughing, and turned perfectly serious. Gokuu felt suddenly eerie at the prince's abrupt change.
" Eriito! " commanded Vejiita in a long echoing yell. His ki exploded, matching and, Gokuu surmised with a slight grin, quite possibly surpassing his opponent's by a marginal fraction.
A marginal fraction that could make worlds of difference.
Gokuu steadied himself in the backlash just in time to take Vejiita's opening blow full on in the face.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Kyande and Yamcha peered imposingly down at Katera as the warrior opened her eyes.
In a bit of a haze, she murmured " Ojisama... " and then noticed Kyande and Yamcha. Sitting upright she turned an accusing glare on the two and demanded, " Where is Vejiitaojisama?! "
" Easy, easy, " Yamcha said quietly, " He's off fighting Gokuu. "
" Gokuu? " Katera questioned.
" Kakarrot, " Kyande offered helpfully.
" Ah yes, Gokuu, Kakarrot's 'human' name, " Katera said with much disgust. " Ojisama will make short work of that low class... "
" I wouldn't be so sure of that, " Yamcha said quietly, but defensively, " He made short work of your friend Nappa. "
Katera sniffed, " Nappa was an idiot, he deserved what he got. " She made an attempt at getting up, " Now let me go! I should be there so I can witness his victory. "
Kyande sweatdropped.
Yamcha gently held Katera back, " You're in no condition to go anywhere. "
" Neh, Katera, " Kyande began gently, " If you don't mind, would you, um, tell me about your past? "
" My past? " Katera asked, narrowing her eyes at Kyande.
" Um, yes, your past. Weren't you discovered as only posing as a male warrior? " Kyande said haltingly.
Katera narrowed her eyes further, " How did you know that? "
" Later. Just tell me, what happened after that? "
" Nappa revealed me, to a large group of warriors, as well as Vejiitaoosama... " Katera answered in a reluctant tone.
[Vejiitaoosama=King Vejiita.]
Vejiitaoosama, that's what's different... it was supposed to be Vejiitaojisama in attendance. Waitaminnit, Okaasan, you've been meddling in my experiment!
" When the king discovered I was super elite like the prince, he saw this as an opportunity. He prevented Nappa from attacking me, not that it would have made any difference anyway. "
" So you were never exiled? " Kyande confirmed.
Katera gave her a questioning look. " Exiled? Far from it, I was made an officer higher than Nappa, " she smirked, as if at a memory Kyande couldn't comprehend, " and practically betrothed to Vejiitaojisama. "
Kyande jerked backwards. " Ee, Be-be-betrothed? " Mental note: NEVER tell your Katera and Vejiita this little tidbit of information. On second thought, never tell Bulma either... or Trunks, it'll just creep him out... or Goten... or-- okay okay! Never tell ANYONE!!
" Why does that bother you? " Katera bristled, " Have you designs on the Ojisama? "
Kyande fell over.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Once Gokuu had recovered from the excessive amount of Vejiita's fighting power the battle had become a near-draw again. For every blow he landed, Vejiita got in one of his own, and vice versa. Both warriors were sweating, covered in the dust in the air and grime picked up from impacts with the ground. Both were in pain, hurting in the several places they'd been hit or strained themselves.
But most importantly, both were loving it.
However, the strain of using Kaiou-ken was taking it's toll on Gokuu's body. Landing on his rear after a kick to the chest from Vejiita, he felt a tremor run through his muscles and gasped lightly at the feeling.
Placing a hand protectively on his left bicep he thought privately. This is no good, my body can't take much more of this, and he's not slowing down. Gomen nasai, Kaiousama, but I have to end this quickly.
Gokuu got painfully to his feet and crouched, flaring up his aura and upgrading his power, " Kaiou-ken Times Two! "
Vejiita raised an eyebrow as he watched Gokuu's aura flare brighter.
The other man pushed off, crumbling the rock pillar beneath him with the force. With a speed almost beyond belief, he matched Vejiita in height and cracked through his armor with one fist, before knocking Vejiita senseless with another fist to the temple. The prince fell backwards, backpedling in midair in a vain attempt to regain balance; to regain composure.
But Gokuu did not give him that chance. He followed Vejiita, giving powerful, bone-crushing blows as he went. Vejiita began to gray out, distantly feeling the blood flow from open wounds, and pool beneath his skin from internal injurries.
Yes, Kakarrot was a worthy oppenent. A dangerously worthy opponent.
Much too dangerous.
Vejiita fisted both hands and threw both of them out at Gokuu. Gokuu ducked back, and turned slightly, catching Vejiita in the gut with both feet. Vejiita curled his arm and brought his elbow down on Gokuu's calf, but he was weakened, and the blow meant to fracture barely cracked the bone. Still, Gokuu's grunt of pain was satisfying to hear.
Vejiita struck outwards again, keeping his hand stiff for a knife strike to Gokuu's collar bone. Gokuu caught the hand and squeezed, crushing the bones in Vejiita's hand. This time Vejiita could not contain the scream of pain. He pushed back, cradling the hand.
The Saiyajin no Oji was seething. This wasn't happening. He was the strongest. Him! No one else, now that Katera was dead he alone held that position.
----------------------------------------------------------------
" Katera's not dead, " Vejiita pointed out crossly.
Sarro gave him a polite smile. " You, or he, excuse me, thought so at this point. "
" So, " Gohan piped up, " does Katera switch sides at this point? Or does she at all? "
Sarro's polite smile took on a slightly enigmatic tone. " You'll just have to wait and see, now won't you, Gohan? " she said mysteriously.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Katera hadn't said much. After Kyande's repeated assurances that she had absolutely no interest in Vejiita, she'd fallen silent, watching sullenly as Yamcha tended to her wounds.
Finally, as Yamcha was wrapping gauze around a particularly nasty wound on her upper arm she inquired, " Am I not your enemy, Chikyuujin? "
[Chikyuujin => loosely translated means Earthling. The more direct translation is 'Earth man' or 'Earth person' and if you're gonna get picky and tell me that it should be 'human' listen to Babidi in the Majin Buu arc and you'll hear him refur to Gohan etc. as Chikyuujin]
" Yes, " answered Yamcha after a pause.
Katera's face took on a puzzled expression. " Then why do you tend to my wounds so diligently? "
Kyande looked back from her seat, curious as to where Yamcha would take the conversation.
There was another pause, longer than the last, before Yamcha reasoned, " In a sense, you were only doing your duty, just as it's my duty to defend Earth and do all I can to stop you. I have nothing against you personally, just what you do. "
" But were the situation reversed, I would not do the same for you, " Katera pointed out.
Kyande had to admire one thing about the Saiyajin, they were brutally honest.
Yamcha shrugged, " No matter. This is my choice, that would be yours. "
He finished with Katera's arm and began applying dressing to a long cut along her cheekbone.
Katera stared at him for a very long time in silence. When Yamcha finished with that cut on her face, ending his medical attention, she tilted her head and said solemnly, " I promise you an honorable death, if it comes to that. "
Yamcha grinned wryly. " 'If it comes to that?' " he echoed, " What does that mean? "
" Ojisama will have to rebuild the Saiyan Empire sooner or later, I hope later, " she added with a dry note in her voice, " and we will need slaves to perpetuate that Empire. I would make sure your duties were of the more pleasant kind, of course. If I were queen, as I probably will be, " there was that dry note again, like she didn't particularily like what she was saying, " I would be allowed a personal assistant. "
Yamcha's grin had dropped the moment Katera mentioned slavery. Carefully folding up the medical supplies he stated quietly, " I think you should keep your options solely with the 'honorable death' thing. "
Katera furrowed her brow. " You have something against living? "
" I have something against slavery, " Yamcha corrected and walked up to take the seat next to Kyande.
Katera blinked, then fell silent again; scowling in a way that Kyande took to mean she was thinking over what Yamcha had said.
Kyande flashed Yamcha a slight grin. " I think you've hurt her feelings, " she commented.
Yamcha said nothing. Kyande didn't blame him.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Vejiita felt his temper flare. How?! How was this son of a low class warrior beating him-- the foreseen one? He was the Legendary Super Saiyajin, or was going to be anyway. How was Kakarrot beating him? How did he have the absolute gall to beat him?
This wasn't supposed to be happening, dammit!
A sneer born of malace, spite, amusement, and bordering insanity curled Vejiita's royal lip. Blasting upwards to land on one of the tallest standing pillars of rock, he glared down at Gokuu with a manic gleam in his eye.
" Stop my next attack if you dare, Kakarrot, " his words came out with such a force it hurt his throat and sent spittle flying from cracked lips, " But even if I miss you, this whole planet will die! " Vejiita's aura flared, carrying him upwards, the steel blue threaded with an angry magenta. When he was so high Gokuu looked like a mere spec against the ground (how fitting) he threw both hands up by his right ear and pulled as much of his ki as he could spare to his hands.
No one beat the crown prince of the Saiyajin and got away with it.
" No! " Gokuu shouted to no avail, " That's not fair! " Frantically he raced through his mind for a plan. His body was far too weakened to take the coming attack head on. He wouldn't be able to stop it. Everything he knew, everyone he loved, everything he'd worked so hard to protect, from Emperor Pilaf, the Red Ribbon Gang, Daimaoh Piccolo, and Garlic Jr. would be gone in an instant: and there was nothing he could do to stop it.
Wait! He still had one option. Maybe, just maybe--
Gokuu crouched, watching as his aura once more manifested around him.
" Ka-- " he began, " Me-- "
Vejiita could feel his collecting ki energy tug at his life force. That wanted to contribute as well. But he kept it down, even if he died in the resulting death of the Earth, he would not let his life force be a part of it.
That was not a warrior's death.
Gokuu continued on in the strain, " Ha-- " He hadn't put this much force
into a Kamehameha blast in ages, not since the defeat of Daimaoh Piccolo,
and he was so much stronger now than he was then, the power was increased
a hundred fold, " Me-- "
" Shine Kakarrot! Gyarikku Hou! " Vejiita screamed, blasting the purple tinted Kamehameha-based attack down towards the Earth.
[Shine used in the context of meaning die]
" HA! " Gokuu finished, firing his blue-white attack straight up to intercept. They met half way, and the force blew outwards.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Katera blinked and looked up, something new kicking her hard in the back of her mind.
" Vejiita, " she whispered.
Kyande glanced back curiously, then nearly fell over again as her senses too picked up the force the two attacks were creating.
" Here we go, " she murmured.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Rocks were rising into the air, and cliffs were crumbling with the force of the collision. Fissures opened in the ground, expelling steam and noxious gasses into the atmosphere from deep inside the Earth.
The planet was not happy with the battle for it.
Gokuu's arms were buckling under the strain. Vejiita was winning. The Gyarikku Hou was slowly but surely overtaking the Kamehameha. Gokuu quivered with the effort, but pushed to the next level anyway, " Kaiou-ken Times Three! "
Vejiita groaned and threw more power into his attack. The collision hung in the middle again.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Yamcha felt the attack suddenly, and sat forward.
" Turn around, Bulma! " he ordered.
" What? " Bulma demanded. Kame Sen'nin was a nanosecond behind her in the same question.
Katera perked up ever so slightly...
" Turn around! I can feel it, something's about to happen! "
" Otousan! " Gohan wailed, looking about to cry again.
" Bulma, " Kyande said, her tone measured, " Turn around, please. We're going to be needed in a minute. "
----------------------------------------------------------------
Stalemate.
The attacks were equal, in every possible respect. It seemed there was nothing either could do to overpower the other, and neither were about to surrender.
Gokuu's breath was coming in shallow gasps. He felt already like he was dying. But he had to win.
He Had To!
Apologizing again to Kaiousama, he drew as deep a breath as he could manage and shouted, his voice breaking, " Times FOUR!! "
Checkmate.
And then it ended.
------------------------------------------------------------------
" Ended? " Chichi freaked, " What ended? "
" Damn. " Vejiita said with conviction, knowing instinctively what had happened.
Bulma guessed from his reaction, and backhanded him across the shoulder. (She immediately began nursing a bruised hand) Everyone else settled for a steady glare at the prince.
Gokuu just grinned.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Yajirobee did not claim to be the bravest of souls. Nor did he particularly want that title. It caused too much trouble. He suspected Kamisama had only called him for training out of how convenient it was to send him after the others. He had, afterall, been living at the base of Karin Tower for so long he didn't even think of moving anymore
So, naturally, he was in awe, his mouth agape as he watched the collassal battle between Gokuu and the powerful alien warrior. His mouth opened wider still as he watched the Kamehameha overtake the alien's purple tinted blast and carry him up and out of sight into the sky.
They'd won?
They'd Won!
" Gokuu! " Yajirobee hollered happily, racing across the boulder strewn battlefield that had once been a network of stone pillars and sheer cliffs. Laughing with an exhilaration that came only after narrowly escaping death, Yajirobee caught up to his long time friend and beamed at him in wordless admiration.
" Hey there, Yajirobee. Where did you come from? " Gokuu inquired.
" Oh, I was hiding over there, " Yajirobee indicated back where he'd come from with a careless shrugging of his chubby shoulders. Bubbling with his excitement, Yajirobee began praising up the hero, " You should have seen yourself, Gokuu! You were awesome. "
" Yeah, " Gokuu gave a weak grin, then looked up into the sky, " There's just one problem. "
Yajirobee blinked. Problem? " What's that? "
" Well, " Gokuu said, " I've won for now, but he'll be off my attack soon and madder 'n hell. " He exhaled noisily, almost as if disappointed, " I don't have the strength left to fight anymore. "
" Oh, " said Yajirobee from several metres away. Gokuu stared at him. Yajirobee cleared his throat and waved, " Um, see ya later, Gokuu! "
This said, he took off running back the way he'd come.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Vejiita was screaming more out of rage then pain. The ki blast of Gokuu's was digging into his back, through his armor, bending his spine unnaturally around the curved point. But it wasn't so much this that was bothering him, it was the fact that he'd been defeated. He'd been beaten. Him!!
In all honesty, it drove him to a temporary insanity. This was something
that went against everything he'e ever believed. Having
someone match him perfectly had been bad enough, but having someone
surpass him was completely unacceptable. It was
intolerable.
Vejiita straightened his back, tipping back slightly and then flipped his body to the side. He watched, his expression taut as the blast continued on out of the atmosphere.
His chest rose and fell with each deep intake of breath. All attempts at calm were failing, so Vejiita gave up on it. His anger would help him. He still had one advantage to play.
Gokuu didn't have his tail: Vejiita did.
Vejiita laughed incredulously, the fur on his tail puffing out with the emotion. A third class born fighter was forcing the most powerful of his people to resort to the Oozaru form. (Sugoi?) His laughter taking on the tone that betrayed his new insanity, Vejiita flew off in search of the Earth's moon.
[Though anyone who knows me personally knows this, others may not. Sugoi = That's Great]
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Kyande, Yamcha, and Gohan pounded the ground with their feet, dodging boulders and strewn debris as they went. Kyande knew this place, her mother had brought her to it after telling her the story of this battle. The destruction left even after all those years had been incredible. But from the looks of things, the battle had only gone halfway. Vejiita had not yet resorted to his Oozaru form. Kyande didn't care if it screwed things up. She was going to stop that. So, here they were, running full tilt towards a battle they had no business in joining. Once again, though, Kyande had proven herself not to be a complete idiot. Chosing to run instead of fly gave them a better chance of surprising Vejiita.
" I hate Oozarus! " Kyande complained.
Yamcha nodded. " Me too. "
" What's that? " Gohan asked.
No one answered him.
The trio reached the area Gokuu and Vejiita were in just as the Saiyan Prince tossed the glowing white sphere of artificial moonlight into the air.
" No you don't, " Kyande muttered, and gathered her own ki to intercept. With an expertly done overhand throw, Kyande's small but powerful ki ball intercepted the moonlight sphere and imploded it before Vejiita could feel it's effects.
Gokuu, looking quite battered, turned to watch their approach with weary relief.
Vejiita was not so impressed.
" You! " he hollered, and Kyande was truly afraid of the look in his eyes. He spread his arms, charged his ki, and shouted, " Don't Interfere! " before wordlessly blasting outwards with something resembling the Big Bang Attack.
Gokuu fell over just from the wind it caused. Kyande, Yamcha and Gohan withstood the wind, but were bowled over by the attack.
Kyande was the first on her feet, and sprinted over to Gokuu's side. Crouching next to him, she shot an aprehensive glance at Vejiita, who was frozen in the arms-outstretched position with his head back. Diverting her gaze from the exhausted prince to the near-dead from exhaustion Gokuu she assured him, " Don't worry, Gokuu, we're here to help. "
" But, " Gokuu wheezed, " I thought... "
Kyande winced. " The situation called for a drastic change in tactic. "
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Katera glared sullenly at the backs of the pale-haired woman and the old man Yamcha and the other two had left to guard her. Before running off to help Gokuu, that little brat (the girl who still hadn't explained why she knew Katera's name) had insisted on restraining her.
Restraining her, Katera sneered with much contempt. Like they could ever hope to restrain her. A carefully controlled beam of ki energy was in the process of cutting through the surprisingly resilient substance they'd used to tie her hands not only behind her back, but to the back of a seat as well.
[duct tape!]
Katera smiled as the satisfying sound of the last thread fraying and snapping filled her sensitive ears. Getting to her feet she quietly tested her injuries. Yamcha had done a good job tending to them, already his work had sped up her natural healing abilities, perhaps too good a job.
Satisfied that she was in good enough shape (though she would have left no matter what her condition, she remarked wryly to herself) she powered up and flew out and past her 'guards.' They were woefully more inadequate than Katera had antisipated, and she considered it a waste of her energy to destroy them.
Besides, she had a prince to attend to.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Kyande pursed her lips and examined Gokuu thoroughly. He was badly beaten up, but there were no life threatening injuries as far as she could tell. Why the blazes hadn't she thought to grab the first aid kit?
Not that it would have done much good. Gokuu's biggest problem was that he was so tired. He'd pushed to Kaiou-ken times four, which didn't sound like such a biggie to Kyande until she remembered that Gokuu had just learned the technique: and that Kaiousama had warned him against just using a double.
Kyande considered her options. On the one hand, she could take Vejiita, but she really didn't want to. She was stronger, and he was weakened. But she'd seen him fight-- he sorely had her beat in the technique department. She had the power, but he had the skill, and even Nappa had been able to push her limits.
No, she'd still probably have to go Super Saiyajin to beat Vejiita. Something she really didn't want.
On the other hand she did know the Kamikaze Transfur. But, was it worth it to see Gokuu through this? and if she died, would things ever be righted again?
She didn't think so.
Kyande bit her lip, trying to find another option. She wracked her brain but constantly came up empty.
Dangit! Dangit! Dangit!
" There is a way, " Gokuu whispered hoarsely, " but I need time. "
Kyande spotted Vejiita moving out of the corner of her eye. Finally! What had he been standing there so long for? It then hit upon her what Gokuu had been implying.
" Ah! " she said, " The Genki Dama! "
Gokuu gave her that odd how-do-you-know-all-this look that she was beginning to see all too often. " Yeah. "
Vejiita was walking over to them. From the look on his face Kyande could tell he was preparing the finishing blow; for both of them probably.
" But, I don't know if I have the strength even to form one, " Gokuu admitted.
Kyande's mind snapped to her decision. " Um, " she said, then yelled to Yamcha and Gohan, " I don't care what you do, or how you do it! Just distract him! " She pointed a finger at Vejiita, who's expression looked skeptical for just a moment before the murderous look returned.
Yamcha and Gohan raced for Vejiita without question. Good, they were learning.
Kyande turned to Gokuu and held her hands up, palms facing him. " I have an idea, " she explained, " take my hands. I'm going to use a technique of my mothers, but I'll need you to collect my energy. I think that if you are collecting it as much as I'm sending it, you can stop it before I die. "
Worry flickered across Gokuu's features.
Kyande leaned forward. " They won't be able to hold him off for much longer. Son Gokuu! I order you to do this! You're our only hope! "
Gokuu reached up and took her hands, folding his fingers with hers. " Arigato, " he whispered, his voice faint as he began to concentrate on Kyande's energy.
Kyande took a slow, deep breath. " Kamikaze Transfur. "
Vejiita took Yamcha's soukidan like it was nothing. Yamcha wished dearly that he could say the same for how he took Vejiita's offhand retaliation.
In truth, Yamcha was vaguely insulted. He's treating us like we're no more than annoying flies! Ruefully, he added, Which we probably are...
" Masen-Kou! " Gohan fired. While Vejiita was dodging to the side of the attack, the little warrior caught him in the side of the neck with a powerful kick. Vejiita growled inarticulatly in anger and grabbed Gohan by the leg. Pivoting on one foot he threw Gohan into Yamcha.
Turning, he silently continued on towards Gokuu and Kyande.
Then... he paused...
Kyande slumped forward, finding herself suddenly weak. So weak... her mind began to fade out on her.
Alarmed, Gokuu disengaged his fingers and caught her as she fell forward.
When she gave no response to his calls, he took a calming breath (which really did nothing) and felt for her ki.
It was there, but barely. The ki technique she'd used was very similar to Tenshinhan's Kikouhou; utilizing her lifeforce to make the action more powerful.
Gokuu wondered shortly who her mother had been to come up with such a powerful technique.
Standing up, Gokuu was pleased to find himself completely rejuvinated.
The pain from his injuries felt like it was kilometres
away.
Turning, he faced a genuinely surprised Vejiita with a grin that clearly
said, 'Rematch.'
Yamcha and Gohan ran over to Kyande while Gokuu and Vejiita went at it again. This time the battle was clearly in Gokuu's favor. While he'd had his power reinstated by Kyande's energy, Vejiita had experienced no such thing. His weariness was proving to be a severe disadvantage.
Gohan cheered his dad on.
Kyande moaned and turned her head to the side.
Yamcha shushed her and cradled her head in his hands. " It's okay, " he said, " you did it. Kyandechan, Gokuu will handle Vejiita from here. "
" No, " she murmured, on the verge of losing consciousness again, " Katera... Katera is coming. "
Yamcha blinked. " Katera? But we left her at the airship. "
Vejiita took about six blows to the face before he was able to block Gokuu's punches. Immediately, Gokuu drove his knee into Vejiita's now exposed midriff. Vejiita felt himself buckle over the knee, and heard the distant sound of ribs popping. His diaphram went up with a force that drove all his breath out of him in a loud 'whoomph.'
Vejiita swung his leg around and back, knocking Gokuu's legs out from under him. While Gokuu was taking the fraction of a second to catch his balance, Vejiita doubled his fists and brought them down on Gokuu's chest. Gokuu hit the ground, but Vejiita had no intention of letting him stay there. Digging the toe of one of his boots into the small of Gokuu's back, Vejiita lifted the other warrior into the air, tossing him up and then punching him in the side with a force that crumbled one of the last standing pillars of rock on impact.
Gokuu flew back at him, hitting Vejiita with his shoulder and breaking off large chunks of armor. As they careened through the air, Gokuu drove his fist multiple times into Vejiita's side and midriff, turning him in a way so that when they hit the cliff across the gorge they were in, Vejiita hit it face first.
Katera arrived just in time to see that last blow.
Vejiita was midway through attacking Gokuu in retaliation when he heard her yell, " Ojisama! "
Vejiita stopped short and stared at her. Katera... alive?
Gokuu's fist clipped him across the jaw. Vejiita spun down towards the ground.
Katera's eyes narrowed in anger. She'd show him...
Racing down towards Gokuu, she met Vejiita as he skimmed the ground towards his oppenent. No one noticed as a small grin curved the corner of Vejiita's mouth. Although it seemed he was sane again. He and Katera raised a fist in front of them and drove them side-by-side into Gokuu's gut. Katera then flipped up to knee him in the small of the back. Gokuu cried out and fell downwards onto Vejiita's upraised knee.
After a few more moments of beating, Vejiita caught Gokuu by the shoulders and held him up as Katera cupped his chin. She idly trailed the blood from his mouth with one finger down to where it began to pool around her hand.
Narrowing her eyes and smiling she commented, " This is what you get for going against the Saiyan prince, " and prepared the final blow.
Yamcha suddenly appeared behind Katera, fist poised. Katera let Gokuu go, whirled around and punched directly through Yamcha's chest. Yamcha lurched to a stop on Katera's arm and choked. His eyes widened and he slumped forward slightly.
Gokuu at that moment turned within Vejiita's grip and caught the prince with a powerful blow to the chest.
" You made your choice then, Yamchakun, " Katera said with a miniscule amount of remorse. Katera snapped her arm to the side, tossing Yamcha off and to the ground.
" Yamcha! " Gohan yelled, fresh tears cascading from his eyes.
Kyande jerked at that. Fully alert, she sat up and looked in horror at Yamcha's prone body. Getting shakily to her feet, she stumbled over to him. Falling to her knees next to him she sobbed, " Dad! "
Yamcha looked up at her in surprise. With his dying breath he asked, " What did you just call me? "
Kyande sniffed and reached down with shaking fingers to close Yamcha's eyes. Standing she quivered in anger a moment, listening to the fight between the Saiyajin in the air above her. Finally it hit a high point and Kyande's fury escaped her in one long echoing yell. She blasted into Super Saiyajin and glared through the gold aura up at Katera and Vejiita.
Vejiita's lips parted in amazement and he breathed, " Densetsu no Super Saiyajin! "
Katera whirled around to stare at him. " Nani!? "
" He said Super Saiyajin, " Kyande stated, right behind Katera. When Katera turned she was met with Kyande's fist and went reeling back into Vejiita. Kyande floated in the air, facing the two Saiyajin conquerers and seethed, " You killed my Otousan... You Killed My Otousan! "
" Otousan? " questioned Gokuu.
Katera bared her teeth and growled, " You take care of Kakarrot, Ojisama, this one's mine. "
" Katera, " Vejiita said, reaching out to hold her back, " We can't fight a Super Saiyajin. "
" That's right, " Kyande said, " You can't. "

[Well, there goes Kyande's plans to not go Super Saiyajin. Ah well, whatcha gonna do? However, how will this affect events to follow? Hell, how is it going to affect the battle? Somehow I don't get the feeling Kyande's primary concern right now is keeping Katera and Vejiita among the living. Is she going to kill them? Or will she come to her senses before it's too late? Stay tuned for the conclusion to this battle (but not this story, sadly enough) in Part five; Kyande the Super Saiyajin; Then It's Off To Namekusei!]
